Which app does the DJI Mini 5 Pro use? DJI Fly setup guide

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Mini 5 Pro works only with the DJI Fly app. On iPhone, get it from the App Store. On Android, download it from DJI's website. If you fly with the DJI RC 2 (in the Fly More Combo), DJI Fly is already installed on the controller. With the RC-N3 (in the standard kit), you run DJI Fly on your phone.

Mini 5 Pro: where DJI Fly runs
From DJI's Mini 5 Pro manual and FAQ. DJI Fly is the only app that flies the Mini 5 Pro. Release notes also list RC-N2 and RC Pro 2 firmware.

Download DJI Fly

Device Where to get it
iPhone / iPad App Store, search "DJI Fly"
Android phone DJI Fly download page
DJI RC 2 / RC Pro 2 Preinstalled, update when prompted

DJI's download page lists the iOS and Android versions DJI Fly supports. Android installs come as an APK from DJI; our Android install guide walks through the prompts. The latest Mini 5 Pro firmware (April 2026) needs DJI Fly v1.21.0 or later.

Set up the RC-N3 with your phone

  1. Take the control sticks out of their storage slots and screw them in.
  2. Pull out the phone holder. The USB-C cable is fitted by default; swap in the Lightning cable for an older iPhone.
  3. Put the phone in the holder and connect the end of the cable without the controller logo to the phone.
  4. On Android, choose charge only if a USB prompt appears. DJI says other options can stop the connection.
  5. Press, then press and hold the power button to turn on the controller.

DJI RC 2: fit the sticks, unfold the antennas, power it on and follow the prompts to activate it. It needs Wi-Fi to activate.

Activate the Mini 5 Pro

  1. Remove the storage cover and press the drone's power button once to wake the battery.
  2. Unfold the arms. Unfolding the right rear arm turns the drone on.
  3. Open DJI Fly and follow the activation prompts. Internet is required.
  4. Install any firmware update. See Mini 5 Pro firmware update.

Link a controller

Combos ship already linked. To link a different controller:

  1. Power on the drone and controller and open DJI Fly.
  2. In the camera view, open settings, then Control: tap Connect to Aircraft (RC 2) or Re-pair to Aircraft (RC-N3).
  3. Press and hold the drone's power button for more than 4 seconds. It beeps and the battery LEDs blink in sequence.
  4. The controller beeps twice when linked. Keep it within 0.5 m of the drone.

Linking a new controller unlinks the old one. More help: how to pair a DJI controller.

Stay logged in

DJI limits flight to 30 m (98.4 ft) high and 50 m (164 ft) away when you aren't connected to or logged into the app. Login lasts 90 days, then you need internet to sign in again.

What you do in DJI Fly

  • Camera control: 50 MP photos, 4K/120fps slow motion, 48 mm Med-Tele mode, D-Log M and HLG
  • FocusTrack, MasterShots, QuickShots, Hyperlapse and Waypoint Flight
  • Return to Home and Home Point settings
  • QuickTransfer to your phone, even with the drone powered off
  • Firmware updates and button customization

Can you fly it with just a phone?

No. DJI's manual covers flying with the DJI RC 2 or RC-N3. Your phone connects to the drone directly only for QuickTransfer. See Mini 5 Pro phone only.
