How to factory reset the DJI Neo

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

DJI's Neo user manual says to reset the DJI Neo to factory default from the DJI Fly app. There's no reset button or button combination on the drone. Connect the Neo to DJI Fly, open the settings, and use the reset option. On DJI drones flown with a controller in DJI Fly, it's under the About tab as Reset All Settings. A reset restores settings to default. It doesn't delete your footage or remove the Neo from your DJI account.

Which Neo fix do you need?
DJI's Neo manual says to use the DJI Fly app to reset to factory default, and to calibrate the IMU and compass in DJI Fly for drift.

Reset the Neo in DJI Fly

  1. Power on the Neo (press, then press and hold the power button).
  2. Connect it to DJI Fly. With a phone, use Connection Guide > DJI Neo > Connect via Mobile Device. With the RC-N3, power on the controller with your phone attached.
  3. Open the settings in DJI Fly.
  4. Find the reset option. With a controller, look under About > Reset All Settings. Menus can differ slightly in phone-only mode and between app versions.
  5. Confirm, then restart the Neo.

If you can't find the option, update DJI Fly first, then contact DJI support.

What to set again afterward

  • Smart Snaps distances and heights for each mode.
  • Camera settings: resolution, aspect ratio, stabilization.
  • RTH altitude and max distance if you fly with a controller. DJI's default RTH altitude is 30 m.
  • Voice control and audio recording options.

DJI's release notes warn that firmware updates can also reset flight settings such as RTH altitude and max distance, so recheck them after any update too.

Try these before a reset

A reset fixes settings. It won't fix most connection, power or hardware problems.

  • Phone won't connect: turn on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and location, power off any other connected device (like the RC-N3), and reconnect through Connection Guide. If you changed phones, turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the old one. See Neo not connecting.
  • Controller won't link: re-pair it with Control > Re-pair to Aircraft, then hold the Neo's power button for more than 4 seconds. See how to pair a DJI controller.
  • Drifting or a tilted gimbal: DJI's troubleshooting says to calibrate the IMU and compass in DJI Fly. If it persists, contact DJI support.
  • Won't power on: charge it. A new or long-stored battery sleeps until it's charged.
  • Update failed: restart everything and try again, or use DJI Assistant 2. See Neo firmware update.

Selling or giving away your Neo

  1. Copy your footage off the internal storage: Neo transfer.
  2. Delete the files in the DJI Fly album.
  3. Reset to default as above.
  4. Unbind it from your DJI account so the new owner can activate it. If you can't find the option, contact DJI support.
  5. If you registered it with the FAA (only needed for Part 107 use at 135 g), update your records: transfer drone registration.

After a crash, don't wipe it first

If you plan a warranty or DJI Care claim, DJI uses the flight data stored in the drone. Talk to support before resetting. For hardware damage, see our repair page.
