Osmo Action 5 Pro lenses, FOV and ND filters

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The Osmo Action 5 Pro has a fixed 155° f/2.8 lens; you can't swap it. You change the look in two ways: switch the field of view in the camera (for example to Standard/Dewarp to straighten the fisheye curve), or add DJI's clip-on FOV Boost Lens (up to 182°) or ND filters (ND8, ND16, ND32). The DJI ND set fits the Action 5 Pro, Action 4 and Action 3.

Action 5 Pro lens options
From DJI's store listings. The FOV Boost Lens widens the view but limits waterproofing to 5 m; DJI says the ND filters mount without affecting waterproofing.

The built-in lens

  • FOV: 155°, aperture f/2.8, focus from 0.35 m to infinity.
  • Prime, not zoom. Digital zoom goes up to 2x. See horizon lock, tracking and zoom.
  • FOV settings: tap the RS | Wide icon on the recording settings to switch FOV, including Standard (Dewarp), which corrects distortion. Stronger stabilization modes crop more of the frame.

Osmo Action FOV Boost Lens

A convex glass lens that clips over the camera lens. On the Action 5 Pro, DJI says it expands the view to up to 182°, about 26% wider and 24% taller than the standard lens at the same settings.

  • Update the camera firmware and turn on FOV Boost Lens mode.
  • With the lens attached, the camera is waterproof to only 5 m, and DJI advises against underwater use because of distortion.
  • Weight 35.9 g. Compatible with the Action 5 Pro and Action 4.

It's for surf selfies that include the whole board, and immersive POV. For most travel and vlogging, the stock lens is better.

ND filters

An action camera can't close its aperture, so in bright sun it uses very fast shutter speeds. That makes motion look choppy and can make stabilized footage jitter. An ND (neutral density) filter cuts light so you can use a slower shutter and get natural motion blur.

Osmo Action ND Filter Set: ND8, ND16 and ND32 in a case (61 g total). DJI says they press on without removing the glass lens cover and don't affect waterproofing. The filters and lens cover use Corning Gorilla Glass with an anti-stain coating.

Filter Cuts Good for
ND8 3 stops Bright overcast, shade, late afternoon
ND16 4 stops Full sun on roads and trails
ND32 5 stops Midday on snow, sand or water

How to use them: in PRO mode set exposure to manual, aim for a shutter of about double your frame rate (1/60 at 30fps, 1/120 at 60fps), then pick the ND that gets the ISO to its lowest. Background: what ND filters do and ND filter numbers explained.

Which filters fit which Osmo Action

  • Action 5 Pro: DJI ND Filter Set and FOV Boost Lens.
  • Action 4: the same ND Filter Set and FOV Boost Lens.
  • Action 6: DJI doesn't list the ND set above for it. The Action 6 has a variable f/2.0 to f/4.0 aperture, so check DJI's Action 6 accessory list. See Action 5 Pro vs Action 6.

Lens care

  • Keep a spare glass lens cover. A scratch shows in every shot.
  • The Lens Hood removes waterproofing; take it off before water.
  • Clean with a blower and lens cloth; DJI warns against alcohol-based cleaners on the camera.
