The Osmo Action 6 is the bigger upgrade on paper: a larger, square 1/1.1-inch sensor, a variable f/2.0 to f/4.0 aperture, 8K/30 video and 4K custom square framing you can crop to vertical or horizontal later. The Osmo Action 5 Pro keeps the same waterproofing, dual screens, 4K/120 slow motion and rated 240-minute battery, and it's the one we can sell in the US. For most action and travel footage, the Action 5 Pro still covers everything you need.

What the Action 6 adds
Bigger, square sensor. A larger sensor helps in shade, indoors and at night. The square shape means you can record a 4K square frame and decide later whether it becomes a 16:9 YouTube clip or a 9:16 vertical reel without rotating the camera.
Variable aperture. Earlier Osmo Action cameras have a fixed aperture. The Action 6 can open to f/2.0 for low light or stop down to f/4.0, and DJI lists focus from as close as 0.2 m at f/4.0. In bright sun you'll still want ND filters to slow the shutter for smooth video.
8K. Useful for cropping and reframing. DJI notes 8K is limited to 16:9, has restricted stabilization and FOV options, and needs a recent iPhone to edit in the DJI Mimo app.
What stays the same
Same waterproof ratings, same screen sizes, three microphones, 4K/120 and 1080p/240 slow motion, RockSteady and HorizonSteady stabilization, and the same rated battery life. Mounts and most accessories follow the same quick-release design, but check compatibility before buying for a specific model.
Can you buy the Action 6 in the US?
New DJI products can't get FCC authorization after the FCC's December 2025 Covered List decision, so newer DJI releases may not be sold here. We don't stock the Action 6. The Action 5 Pro was authorized before the cutoff and remains on sale with US warranty support. Details: is the DJI Osmo banned.
