Osmo Pocket 3 exposure, ISO and white balance settings

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

To set exposure manually on the Osmo Pocket 3, swipe left from the right edge of the screen, tap PRO, and set Exposure to M. You can then set ISO and shutter speed yourself; white balance has its own AWB or manual setting, and focus can be Single, Continuous or Product Showcase. The lens is a fixed f/2.0, so ISO and shutter are your only exposure controls.

Where the settings live

  • Swipe left: image and audio settings. Tap PRO for Exposure, White Balance, Focus, Colors and more.
  • Swipe up: resolution, frame rate and aspect ratio for the current shooting mode.
  • Swipe down: control menu with gimbal mode, orientation and system settings.
  • DJI Mimo app: tap AUTO in the camera view and switch to M to set shutter and ISO from your phone.

ISO and shutter ranges

Mode ISO Shutter
Photo 50 to 6400 1/8000 to 1 s
Video 50 to 6400 1/8000 s to the frame-rate limit
Low-Light video 50 to 16000 Up to the frame-rate limit
Slow Motion 50 to 6400 1/8000 s to the frame-rate limit

At 30 fps the slowest shutter is 1/30 s. Med-Tele mode caps ISO at 1600.

Pro (manual) exposure

Use M when brightness must not change, such as sit-down talks, product shots or anything you'll cut together. A good routine:

  1. Set the frame rate first.
  2. Set the shutter to about double the frame rate (1/50 at 24 fps, 1/60 at 30 fps, 1/120 at 60 fps).
  3. Raise or lower ISO until the face or subject looks right.
  4. In bright sun, add an ND filter instead of raising the shutter. See Pocket 3 ND filters.

In Auto, the camera picks everything. That's usually best for walking vlogs where light changes constantly.

White balance

AWB handles mixed light well for casual shooting. For anything you'll edit as a sequence, set it manually: about 5500 to 5600K in daylight, 3200 to 4500K under warm indoor lights. Manual white balance matters most in D-Log M.

Focus modes

  • Continuous: keeps refocusing. Best for vlogs and moving subjects.
  • Single: focuses once. Good for static scenes and tripod shots.
  • Product Showcase: prioritizes objects close to the lens, for reviews and unboxings. Video mode only.

Minimum focus distance is 20 cm. A February 2025 update added breathing compensation, which corrects the change in framing as focus shifts.

Resolution and frame rate

  • 16:9: 4K, 2.7K or 1080p at 24 to 60 fps.
  • 9:16 vertical: up to 3K at 24 to 60 fps.
  • 1:1: up to 3K at 24 to 60 fps.
  • Slow Motion: 4K/120 (4x) or 1080p/240 (8x).

If 4K is missing, you're probably in vertical or square. See Osmo Pocket 3 no 4K.

Film look settings

For a cinematic look: 4K at 24 fps, shutter 1/50, low ISO with an ND filter in daylight, manual white balance, D-Log M and a grade, and lower sharpness in Image Adjustment. DJI also added 2.35:1 guide lines in settings to help frame widescreen shots.

Indoor flicker

Under LED or fluorescent lights, set Anti-Flicker to your power grid frequency (60 Hz in the US) in system settings. In manual mode, use 1/60 or 1/120 s to avoid banding.
