Can you buy the DJI Mini 5 Pro in the US? Ban status and price

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Yes. The DJI Mini 5 Pro is legal to buy, own and fly in the United States. It was FCC-authorized before December 2025, when the FCC added foreign-made drones, including DJI, to its Covered List; that decision blocks new models, not ones already authorized. But DJI never officially launched the Mini 5 Pro in the US, so it isn't sold on DJI's US store and stock is limited. Care Refresh coverage varies by model, so check DJI's Care Refresh page or ask us about a US plan. We sell it from $835 when we have stock.

DJI Mini 5 Pro in the US
The Mini 5 Pro was FCC-authorized before the December 2025 Covered List decision, but DJI didn't launch it in the US. Stock reaches dealers through other channels.

Is the Mini 5 Pro banned in the US?

No. Here's where it stands:

  • Buying: legal. Units reach US dealers through channels other than a DJI US launch, so supply is irregular.
  • Flying: legal under normal FAA rules. Under 250 g with the standard battery, so recreational pilots don't register it.
  • Updates: in May 2026 the FCC extended firmware and software updates for already-authorized drones to January 1, 2029. DJI released Mini 5 Pro firmware as recently as April 25, 2026.
  • Tariffs: imported drones have carried a Section 232 tariff since September 3, 2026, which affects prices.

In July 2026 the FCC also proposed restricting further import and sale of "military-grade" drones, naming categories such as thermal, LiDAR, spray and dock systems. It's a proposal, not an adopted rule. The Mini 5 Pro's forward LiDAR is a sensing aid for obstacle avoidance, and we won't guess how a final rule might be worded. Why wasn't it sold in the US?

DJI held back the US launch of the Mini 5 Pro in 2025, citing import difficulties and tariffs, before the FCC's decision. See why DJI drones are out of stock.

Mini 5 Pro price in the USA

Kit Our price
Standard (RC-N3, 1 battery) $835
Fly More Combo (DJI RC 2, 3 batteries, hub, bag) $1,209

Prices and stock change; check the Mini 5 Pro product page. Kit contents are compared in Mini 5 Pro combos.

Is the US version different?

Units sold in different regions carry different labels, and in Europe the Fly More Combo drone is C0-certified while the Plus combo drone is C1. In the US, what matters is FCC authorization and FAA Remote ID: the Mini 5 Pro is on the FAA's list of accepted Remote ID declarations of compliance. DJI quotes its 20 km range under FCC rules.

Warranty and repair in the USA

This is the real trade-off:

  • Care Refresh isn't a given. Ask us whether a US plan is available before you count on one. See Mini 5 Pro protection.
  • Warranty service can depend on where a unit was originally sold. Units from another region may not get US warranty service. Ask your dealer before you buy. See DJI warranty in the USA.
  • Repairs: you can open a request with DJI Support, and our repair desk can assess damage.

If guaranteed US support matters most, the Mini 4 Pro is sold officially here with Care Refresh. See Mini 4 Pro vs Mini 5 Pro.

Watch for scams

Scarce drones attract fake listings. A "Mini 5 Pro" far below normal prices on a marketplace is a red flag. Buy from an authorized dealer.

Before flying in the US

  1. Pass the free TRUST test for recreational flying, or get Part 107 for business use.
  2. Register with the FAA if you fly under Part 107 or use the Battery Plus. See Mini 5 Pro license.
  3. Check airspace with B4UFLY or Aloft before every flight.

Current as of October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice.
