DJI Air 3 batteries and chargers: what to buy

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Air 3 runs on a 4241 mAh, 62.6 Wh Intelligent Flight Battery, and DJI also lists the newer Air 3S battery as compatible with it. For charging, use the Air 3 Series Battery Charging Hub with a USB-C PD charger of 60 W or more. DJI quotes about 60 minutes per battery with its 100W adapter and hub, or about 80 minutes with the 65W Portable Charger.

Batteries that fit the Air 3
DJI lists both Intelligent Flight Batteries as compatible with the Air 3 and Air 3S. Both are under 100 Wh, so they can fly with you in carry-on bags.

Which battery to buy

Either battery works. We stock the DJI Air 3S Intelligent Flight Battery ($270), which DJI lists for both the Air 3S and the Air 3. It's 4276 mAh, 62.5 Wh and about 247 g. The original Air 3 pack is 4241 mAh, 62.6 Wh and about 267 g. DJI rates the Air 3 at 46 minutes with its own battery; it doesn't publish a separate Air 3 figure for the Air 3S pack.

Avoid unbranded "compatible" packs. DJI batteries have a battery management system that talks to the drone, and third-party cells aren't covered by DJI.

There is no extended or "Plus" battery for the Air 3. Every DJI option is about the same size.

Charging options

Setup Time per battery (DJI figure)
DJI 100W USB-C Power Adapter + Charging Hub About 60 min
DJI 65W Portable Charger (USB-C cable) About 80 min
DJI 65W Car Charger + hub About 80 min (per hub listing)

You can also charge a battery while it's in the drone, through the aircraft's USB-C port. DJI recommends PD chargers rated 60 W or higher for third-party adapters.

Batteries only charge between 5° and 40° C (41° to 104° F). After a flight, let the pack cool before charging.

The charging hub

The Air 3 Series Battery Charging Hub ($76) holds three batteries and charges them in sequence, fullest first, so one is ready quickly. Long-press its function button to move leftover charge from several part-used packs into one (power accumulation). It also works as a power bank with up to 82 W USB-C output for a phone or controller. Three batteries take roughly three hours with the 100W adapter, since the hub charges one at a time. The hub doesn't include a power adapter.

How many batteries do you need?

  • Casual flying: two batteries.
  • Travel or client work: three, plus the hub. That's about 138 rated minutes per outing.
  • All-day shoots: four or more, plus a car charger.

The Fly More Combo includes three batteries, the hub and a bag. It usually costs less than buying those items separately. See Air 3 Fly More Combo.

Storage and travel

  • You don't need to drain packs for storage: an idle battery discharges itself to 96% after three days and to 60% after nine days. Charge each one fully at least once every three months.
  • On flights, spare lithium batteries go in carry-on only, with terminals protected. Both Air 3 series batteries are under 100 Wh, so no airline approval is needed. See traveling with a drone.
  • In cold weather, capacity drops sharply below 5° C. Keep packs warm until takeoff.
