DJI Avata 2 batteries and chargers: what to buy

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Avata 2 uses one battery type: the DJI Avata 2 Intelligent Flight Battery (2150 mAh, 31.7 Wh, about 145 g, up to 23 minutes). You can charge it inside the drone through its USB-C port with a 30 W or stronger USB PD charger (about 88 minutes), or in the Avata 2 Two-Way Charging Hub with DJI's 65W charger (about 45 minutes per battery, three batteries in sequence).

Two ways to charge an Avata 2 battery
DJI's charge times for the Avata 2 battery. The hub is faster and charges three packs one after another; charging in the drone needs no extra gear.

The battery

Spec Avata 2 Intelligent Flight Battery
Capacity 2150 mAh
Energy 31.7 Wh
Voltage 14.76 V
Type Li-ion
Weight About 145 g
Flight time Up to 23 min (DJI test)
Charging temperature 5° to 40° C (41° to 104° F)
Our price $109

It's the only battery that fits. There's no extended-capacity version from DJI. Buy the Avata 2 Intelligent Flight Battery.

Charging in the drone

  1. Insert the battery in the aircraft and keep the drone powered off. It won't charge while on.
  2. Plug a USB-C charger into the aircraft's USB-C port. DJI recommends its 65W charger or any USB PD charger of 30 W or more.
  3. The battery LEDs show progress and turn off when it's full.

The drone accepts up to 30 W, so a bigger charger doesn't make in-drone charging faster. New batteries ship in hibernation and wake up the first time you charge them.

The Two-Way Charging Hub

The Avata 2 Two-Way Charging Hub ($65) holds three batteries and:

  • Charges them in sequence, highest charge level first.
  • Fills one battery in about 45 minutes with the DJI 65W Portable Charger.
  • Combines leftover charge from several low batteries into the fullest one (power accumulation).
  • Works as a power bank for your goggles, controller or phone over USB-C.
  • Stores batteries safely between flights. DJI recommends storing them in the hub.

It only accepts the Avata 2 battery (model BWX520-2150-14.76).

Which wall or car charger?

  • DJI 65W Portable Charger or DJI 65W Car Charger: DJI's recommendation for the hub.
  • Any USB-C PD charger: 30 W or more for in-drone charging, and 60 W or more to get the hub's 45-minute time.

Avoid cheap non-PD USB chargers. They may charge very slowly or not at all.

How many batteries do you need?

Real FPV flying uses a battery in roughly 15 to 20 minutes. Three batteries plus the hub gives about an hour of flying per outing, which is why the Fly More Combo is popular. See Avata 2 battery life and Avata 2 combo options.

Battery care

  • Let a hot battery cool before charging; DJI says not to charge right after a flight.
  • Idle batteries discharge themselves to 96% after 3 days and 60% after 9 days to protect the cells.
  • Charge each battery fully at least once every three months. DJI recommends discharging to 30% or lower before transporting batteries.
  • Spare batteries fly in carry-on bags only, terminals protected. At 31.7 Wh they're under the 100 Wh limit. See traveling with a drone.
