The closest alternative to the DJI Air 3S is the Air 3: same 70 mm second camera and flight time at the same $1,209, with a smaller main sensor. If you want the Air 3S's 1-inch image quality in a lighter drone, look at the sub-250 g Mini 5 Pro. If budget allows, the Mavic 4 Pro is the big step up. The Air 3S itself ($1,209) remains our staff pick for balance.

DJI Air 3: same idea, lower price
The Air 3 ($1,209) has two matching 1/1.3-inch 48 MP cameras (24 mm and 70 mm), 46 minutes of rated flight and O4 transmission.
Choose it over the Air 3S if: you mostly fly in daylight or want goggles support (Air 3 works with Goggles 3). You give up: the 1-inch sensor, forward LiDAR for night sensing, 42 GB internal storage (Air 3 has 8 GB), and 4K/120fps.
See Air 3 vs Air 3S.
DJI Mini 5 Pro: 1-inch sensor under 250 g
The Mini 5 Pro has a 1-inch 50 MP camera, omnidirectional sensing with LiDAR, and weighs 249 g with the standard battery. That means no FAA registration for recreational flying.
Choose it if: you travel, hike, or want to skip registration. You give up: the 70 mm second camera, about 9 minutes of rated flight, and some wind handling. Stock is limited.
See Mini 5 Pro vs Air 3S.
DJI Mini 4 Pro: the budget light option
The Mini 4 Pro ($835) is 249 g with a 1/1.3-inch 48 MP camera and 34-minute rated flights. A good choice if price and weight matter more than the second camera. See Mini 4 Pro vs Air 3S.
DJI Mavic 4 Pro: the step up
The Mavic 4 Pro ($2,419) has a 4/3 Hasselblad 100 MP main camera plus 70 mm and 168 mm tele cameras, 6K/60fps video and 51-minute rated flights.
Choose it if: you sell your images or want the best stills DJI makes in a folding drone. You give up: about $1,200, and it's heavier at 1.06 kg. See Air 3S vs Mavic 4 Pro.
What about non-DJI drones?
Other brands make folding camera drones, but we're an authorized DJI dealer and don't sell or test them, so we can't compare them fairly. If you shop elsewhere, check that the model is sold in the US, has Remote ID if it's 250 g or more, and gets firmware updates.
Can you still buy the Air 3S?
Yes. The Air 3S was FCC authorized before the December 2025 Covered List decision, so it stays legal to buy, own and fly in the US. See can you buy the Air 3S in the US.
