DJI Mini 4 Pro alternatives worth considering

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The closest DJI Mini 4 Pro alternatives are the Mini 5 Pro (bigger 1-inch sensor and LiDAR for a little more money), the Mini 3 (same size sensor, longer flights, no obstacle sensing, much cheaper), the Flip (built-in propeller guards, easy for beginners) and the Air 3S (heavier, better in wind, with a second tele camera). The Mini 4 Pro remains the safe middle choice: under 250 g, all-direction sensing and ActiveTrack.

Mini 4 Pro alternatives
All three stay under 250 g with their standard batteries. Specs from DJI; prices are ours and can change.

Mini 5 Pro: the step up

The Mini 5 Pro keeps the sub-250 g weight with its standard battery but moves to a 1-inch 50 MP sensor, 4K/120 video and omnidirectional sensing plus forward LiDAR. For a small price difference, it's the better camera. Read Mini 4 Pro vs Mini 5 Pro. Note that support options differ: DJI never officially launched it in the US, so ask us whether a US Care Refresh plan is available for it. See is DJI Care Refresh available in the US.

Mini 3: the budget pick

The Mini 3 has the same size 1/1.3-inch sensor and a longer rated flight time (38 minutes) for much less. You give up a lot: no forward, side or rear sensing, no ActiveTrack, no waypoints, 4K only up to 30 fps and no 10-bit D-Log M. Good for careful pilots in open spaces. See Mini 3 vs Mini 4 Pro.

DJI Flip: the beginner-friendly pick

The Flip is a sub-250 g drone with full propeller guards built into its folding frame, so it's safer to fly near people and indoors. It shoots 4K/60 HDR on a 1/1.3-inch sensor, but its obstacle sensing is forward only and it's rated for 31 minutes. See Flip vs Mini 4 Pro.

Air 3S: when weight isn't the issue

The Air 3S weighs 724 g, so it must be registered, but it handles wind better (rated 12 m/s vs 10.7 m/s), flies 45 minutes and adds a 70 mm medium tele camera to a 1-inch main camera. Best for travel and serious photography. See Mini 4 Pro vs Air 3S.

Cheaper still

  • DJI Neo: a 135 g selfie drone with guards that launches from your palm. Fun, but not a Mini 4 Pro replacement for photos.
  • Mini 2 SE: a basic 2.7K drone for learning to fly.

What about other brands on Amazon?

We're an Authorized DJI Dealer, so we only sell and support DJI. Other brands make sub-250 g camera drones too. When you compare, check three things the Mini 4 Pro does well: real obstacle sensing in all directions, a stable long-range video link, and FAA Remote ID compliance if the drone will weigh 250 g or more. Also make sure the seller offers US warranty support.

Which one should you choose?

  • Want the best camera under 250 g: Mini 5 Pro.
  • Want the safest all-rounder: Mini 4 Pro.
  • Tight budget, open spaces: Mini 3.
  • Kids, indoors or crowds nearby: Flip.
  • Windy coasts and zoom: Air 3S.
