The best DJI Flip alternatives depend on what you'd trade the Flip's full propeller guards for. For less money, the $186 DJI Neo is a palm-launch selfie drone that also works with goggles. For longer flights and a lower price, the Mini 3 is rated for 38 minutes. For better obstacle sensing, the Mini 4 Pro ($835) or Mini 5 Pro ($835) see in every direction. For FPV, the Avata 2 is the goggles-on option.

DJI Neo: the cheaper selfie drone
The Neo does what the Flip does in its simplest form: palm takeoff, follow shots and full prop guards, at less than half the price and about half the weight. It has a smaller sensor, 4K/30 video and an 18-minute battery. It also works with DJI goggles for FPV, which the Flip doesn't. See Neo vs Flip.
DJI Mini 3: longer flights for less
The Mini 3 has the same size sensor class and a 38-minute rated battery, for less than the Flip. You give up the guards, palm launch, tracking modes and forward sensing. It suits travel and landscape shooters who fly with a controller. See Flip vs Mini 3.
DJI Mini 4 Pro: the safer camera drone
The Mini 4 Pro has omnidirectional obstacle sensing, ActiveTrack with real avoidance, Waypoint Flight and 4K/100fps. It has no built-in guards, but a 360° propeller guard is available. See Flip vs Mini 4 Pro.
DJI Mini 5 Pro: best image quality under 250 g
A 1-inch 50 MP sensor, 4K/120fps and LiDAR-assisted sensing make it the best camera here. It costs nearly twice the Flip, and stock is limited in the US. Ask us whether a US Care Refresh plan is available for it.
DJI Avata 2: real FPV
If you were drawn to the Flip's guards because you want to fly close and low, the Avata 2 does that in goggles with Easy ACRO flips. It's heavier (FAA registration required) and has no tracking modes. See Avata 2 worth it.
Who should still buy the Flip
Pick the Flip if you want a guarded drone you can launch from your hand, a camera good enough for 4K/60 HDR and D-Log M, voice and app control, and a full controller for longer flights. It's the middle ground between the Neo and the Mini 4 Pro. See Flip worth it.
