DJI Avata 2 QuickTransfer not working: fixes

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

DJI Avata 2 QuickTransfer usually fails because Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or location services are off on the phone, or because the first-time confirmation on the drone was missed or held too long. Turn on all three phone settings, open DJI Fly, tap the QuickTransfer card, and press and hold the aircraft power button for two seconds when the app asks.

Avata 2 QuickTransfer
QuickTransfer steps from DJI's Avata 2 manual and FAQ. Don't hold the power button longer than asked, or the drone starts linking instead.

How Avata 2 QuickTransfer works

QuickTransfer connects your phone to the Avata 2 over Wi-Fi so you can download footage without the goggles. DJI rates it at up to 30 MB/s in lab conditions on 5.8 GHz. While QuickTransfer is active, the drone disconnects from the goggles and controller, and reconnects when you exit.

Connect step by step

  1. Power on the aircraft and wait for the self-check to finish.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and location services on your phone.
  3. Open DJI Fly and tap the QuickTransfer card at the bottom left of the home screen. Select your aircraft.
  4. The first time, when the app prompts you, press and hold the aircraft's power button for two seconds. The battery LEDs blink from the inside out, then go solid, and DJI Fly asks whether to connect.
  5. Browse and download your files.

If it won't connect

  • Check all three phone settings. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and location must be on, and DJI Fly needs permission to use them.
  • Don't over-hold the button. DJI warns that holding the power button too long starts the linking process instead. Two seconds is enough.
  • Restart. Power cycle the drone, force-close DJI Fly and toggle the phone's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  • Update. Use the latest DJI Fly and aircraft firmware.
  • App closed badly? DJI notes that if DJI Fly closes abnormally during QuickTransfer, the drone only reconnects to the goggles after a restart. If your goggles lost video after a transfer, restart the aircraft.

If it's slow

  • Keep the phone within 2 m (about 6.5 ft) of the drone with nothing between them, as DJI's FAQ suggests.
  • Move away from Wi-Fi routers, Bluetooth speakers and headphones.
  • If your phone doesn't support 5.8 GHz Wi-Fi, QuickTransfer falls back to 2.4 GHz and gets much slower.

Other ways to get footage off

Remove the microSD card and use a card reader, or connect the aircraft to a computer with a USB-C data cable. The goggles can also record what you see, but that's the live-view feed, not the full-quality file from the drone.

If the phone won't connect to the goggles either, see Avata 2 not connecting. For other models, read DJI QuickTransfer not working. More on the drone is in the Avata 2 guide.
