DJI Air 3 QuickTransfer not working: fixes

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

DJI Air 3 QuickTransfer usually fails for one of three reasons: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or location services are off on the phone, you're trying it from a DJI RC 2 (which doesn't support it), or you skipped the first-time confirmation on the drone's power button. Fix those and it connects in seconds.

Air 3 QuickTransfer
QuickTransfer figures from DJI's Air 3 manual. It runs between the aircraft and a phone, and the fastest speed needs a phone that supports 5.8 GHz Wi-Fi.

What QuickTransfer is

QuickTransfer links your phone straight to the Air 3 over Wi-Fi so DJI Fly can download photos and video without the controller. DJI rates it at up to 30 MB/s on 5.8 GHz, dropping to 6 MB/s on 2.4 GHz. You don't type a Wi-Fi password in phone settings: DJI Fly handles the connection.

How to connect (two ways)

Without the controller:

  1. Power on the Air 3 and wait for the self-check to finish.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the phone (and location services).
  3. Open DJI Fly. A prompt to connect to the aircraft appears. Tap Connect.
  4. The first time, press and hold the aircraft's power button for two seconds to confirm.

With the phone on the RC-N2:

  1. Keep the drone connected through the controller with the motors off.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the phone.
  3. In DJI Fly, open playback and tap the QuickTransfer icon in the upper right.

If it won't connect

  • Check all three phone settings. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and location services must all be on. On iPhone and Android, also allow DJI Fly to use location and Bluetooth in the app permissions.
  • Using a DJI RC 2? The RC 2 does not support QuickTransfer. Use a phone, or copy files from the microSD card.
  • Confirm on the drone. If you didn't hold the power button for two seconds on the first connection, the pairing never completed. Restart and try again.
  • Restart everything. Power cycle the drone, force-close DJI Fly, and toggle the phone's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  • Update. Install the latest DJI Fly and aircraft firmware.
  • Forget the old network. If the phone tries to join a saved Air 3 network on its own, forget it in Wi-Fi settings and let DJI Fly reconnect.

If it's slow

  • Your phone may not support 5.8 GHz Wi-Fi, so it falls back to 2.4 GHz and 6 MB/s.
  • Move away from routers, Bluetooth speakers and headphones. DJI specifically names them as interference sources.
  • Keep the phone close to the drone with nothing between them.
  • Large files such as 4K/100fps clips take time even at full speed.

Other ways to get your files

Pop out the microSD card and use a card reader, or connect the Air 3 to a computer with a USB-C data cable. If QuickTransfer still fails after all of the above, see the general DJI QuickTransfer troubleshooting guide or our Air 3 connection guide.

Thinking about the newer model? The Air 3S can use QuickTransfer while asleep, without fully powering on. Details are in the Air 3 guide.
