For most Sony, Canon and Fujifilm mirrorless shooters, the DJI RS 4 Mini is the best gimbal if your camera and lens weigh under 2 kg, and the DJI RS 4 is the best pick for a full-frame body with a 24-70mm f/2.8. Choose the RS 4 Pro for heavier cinema rigs up to 4.5 kg, and the RS 3 Mini if price matters most. Weight decides first; features decide second.

DJI RS 4 Mini: best for most
At about 890 g, it's light enough to carry all day. It has automated axis locks, the fastest vertical switch in the RS series, Smooth and Responsive follow modes, and up to 13 hours of battery. It mounts the RS Intelligent Tracking Module directly for hands-free tracking of one person. It doesn't support focus motors. Good with compact bodies like Sony's a6000-series and ZV cameras, Canon's smaller R bodies and Fujifilm X bodies with modest lenses.
DJI RS 4: best for full-frame zooms
The RS 4 carries 3 kg, which DJI says covers most mainstream cameras with a 24-70mm f/2.8. It adds a joystick switch for zoom control (Sony power zoom and Clear Image Zoom, or a DJI Focus Pro Motor), a 1.8-inch OLED screen, Teflon-coated axes, and an optional BG70 grip for up to 29.5 hours. Compared with the RS 3, DJI points to the new vertical plate, Teflon coating and 2nd-gen axis locks.
DJI RS 4 Pro: best for heavy rigs
Carbon fiber arms, 4.5 kg payload, up to two Focus Pro Motors, LiDAR autofocus and ActiveTrack Pro with the Focus Pro LiDAR, a Car Mount Auto Tune option, and a briefcase handle and case in the box.
DJI RS 3 Mini: best on a budget
The older RS 3 Mini also carries 2 kg and shoots native vertical, at a lower price. It lacks the RS 4 Mini's automated axis locks and tracking module support.
By brand
- Sony: the best-supported brand for camera control. DJI lists Bluetooth zoom control for many bodies, including the FX3, A7S III, A7 IV and A7C, and joystick control of Sony power zoom lenses.
- Canon: DJI's manual shows Bluetooth shutter setup on the EOS R5. Check your body for cable or Bluetooth support.
- Fujifilm: X-series bodies are light and suit the RS 4 Mini; check DJI's list for control support by model.
- Nikon: DJI lists the Z50 and Z6II for button mapping over Bluetooth; check newer bodies.
Always confirm your camera and lens in DJI's Ronin Series Compatibility search. Our RS 4 camera compatibility guide walks through it.
How to choose
- Weigh the full rig: body, lens, battery, card, filter and anything on the camera.
- Leave headroom. If you're near 2 kg, step up to the RS 4.
- Decide on lens control. Focus motors need the RS 4 or RS 4 Pro.
- Think about carry time. Lighter gimbals get used more.
