Does the DJI Flip work with DJI Goggles 3 or N3?

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

No. The DJI Flip is not an FPV drone and doesn't work with any DJI goggles, including Goggles 3 and Goggles N3, or with the RC Motion 3 or FPV Remote Controller 3. DJI lists only three controllers for it: the DJI RC 2, RC-N3 and RC-N2, all flown through the DJI Fly app on a screen. If you want goggles, the DJI Neo and DJI Avata 2 are DJI's goggles-compatible drones.

DJI Flip and goggles
DJI lists only the RC 2, RC-N3 and RC-N2 controllers for the Flip, flown through the DJI Fly app. For goggles, look at the Neo or Avata 2.

Why the Flip isn't FPV

The Flip looks like a small FPV drone because of its full propeller guards, but it's built as a vlogging camera drone:

  • Controllers: RC 2, RC-N3 or RC-N2 only.
  • App: DJI says the Flip works only with DJI Fly.
  • Flight modes: Cine, Normal and Sport. DJI's FAQ says it has no Manual mode.
  • Camera: a 3-axis gimbal that keeps the horizon level, unlike the tilting, acro-style view of FPV drones.

DJI's goggles compatibility lists don't include the Flip. See DJI goggles compatibility.

Can I watch the Flip's view on a headset?

Not with DJI goggles. The Flip's live view goes to your phone or the RC 2 screen at up to 1080p/60fps. Third-party video headsets that mirror a phone screen aren't supported by DJI, and in the US, anything that keeps your eyes off the drone means you need a visual observer beside you.

DJI drones that do work with goggles

Drone Our price Weight Goggles Notes
DJI Neo $186 135 g Goggles 3, N3 Palm launch like the Flip, plus FPV with RC Motion 3
DJI Avata 2 $934 377 g Goggles 3, N3 Full FPV, Easy ACRO flips, Manual mode with FPV RC 3

The DJI Goggles N3 is the lower-cost headset for both. Compare in Neo vs Flip and Avata 2 vs Neo.

Flip vs Neo if you want FPV someday

If you're torn between the two, the Neo gives you the option to add goggles later. The Flip gives you a much better camera (1/1.3-inch, 48 MP, 4K/60 HDR) and 31-minute rated flights, but no FPV path. The Neo's 135 g weight and the Flip's 249 g both stay under the FAA registration line for recreational flying.

How to get immersive shots with the Flip

  • ActiveTrack and Follow keep the camera on you. See Flip ActiveTrack.
  • QuickShots and MasterShots fly cinematic paths automatically. See Flip QuickShots.
  • Cruise Control holds a steady speed for smooth passes.

FPV rules if you switch

Flying in goggles in the US means a visual observer must stand next to you and watch the drone. See are FPV drones legal and best FPV drone for beginners.

Want the Flip's camera? Shop the DJI Flip. Want goggles? Start with the DJI Neo or the DJI Avata 2.
