DJI doesn't publish a decibel rating for the DJI Flip. As a C0 class drone in Europe it doesn't need a sound power label, unlike the C1 Avata 2, which DJI rates at 81 dB. What DJI does publish: the Flip spins 4-inch propellers inside full guards at a maximum of 20,500 RPM. Any number you see quoted for the Flip comes from someone's own meter, not DJI.

What we know
| DJI Flip | |
|---|---|
| Official noise rating | Not published |
| EU class | C0 (no sound power label required) |
| Propellers | 4.0 x 2.2 inch, two blades |
| Max propeller speed | 20,500 RPM (DJI C0 statement) |
| Weight | Under 249 g |
For comparison, DJI's C1 statement for the Avata 2 gives a sound power level of 81 dB at up to 51,430 RPM. That figure is a standardized EU measurement, not what you'd hear at a given distance, so don't compare it with phone-app readings.
What makes the Flip louder
- Distance. Sound drops off quickly as the drone moves away. Palm launches and close follow shots are the loudest moments.
- Hard flying. Climbing fast, Sport mode and fighting wind all raise motor speed.
- Damaged props. A chipped or bent blade adds buzz and vibration. Replace it. See Flip propellers.
- Hard surfaces. Indoors or between buildings, sound bounces back.
Will people notice it?
Yes, at close range. The Flip is built to fly near you, so the people around you will hear it. Be considerate:
- Don't hover over neighbors' yards or close to strangers.
- Keep flights short in quiet places like beaches at dawn or campsites.
- Check local rules; some parks restrict drones for noise and wildlife reasons. See drone laws by state.
Keeping prop noise out of your videos
The Flip has no microphone, so its own files are silent. When you record audio through DJI Fly, the mic is your phone or a mic on you, not on the drone, which helps a lot:
- Use a clip-on mic like the DJI Mic 2 close to your mouth.
- Turn on a noise reduction effect when you enable app recording.
- Let the drone move farther away for talking shots.
See Flip audio.
Quiet propellers?
DJI doesn't sell a low-noise propeller for the Flip, and its manual says to use only official DJI props. Third-party "quiet" props aren't approved and may change flight behavior.
Is it quieter than other DJI drones?
Without DJI figures for the Flip, Neo or Mini series, a fair comparison needs measurements under the same conditions, which DJI hasn't published. If low noise is critical, try the drone in person before you buy, or contact us with questions.
The DJI Flip is a close-range vlogging drone. Pair it with a good mic and you'll rarely hear it in your final edit.
