DJI Flip propellers: replacement, upgrades and quiet props

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Flip uses DJI Flip Propellers, model 4022F, 4.0 x 2.2 inches. Each propeller is two separate blades held by two screws, and a pack contains two pairs of propellers with 12 screws. You change them with the small screwdriver that comes with the Flip, by lifting the built-in guard and sliding the new blade in from below. DJI doesn't make a quiet or upgrade propeller for the Flip, and its manual says to use only official DJI props.

Official Flip propellers

DJI Flip Propellers
Model 4022F
Size 4.0 x 2.2 in (101.6 x 55.8 mm)
Construction 2 blades per propeller, 2 screws each
In the pack 2 pairs of propellers, 12 screws
Fits DJI Flip only

DJI counts the two front props as one pair and the two rear props as another. Every Flip kit includes spare props: one pair in the standard kit, three in the Fly More Combo.

A and B props

Propellers come labeled A and B. Prop A has a raised mark and goes on the marked motors; prop B has no mark and goes on the unmarked motors. Mixing them up means the drone won't fly properly.

How to replace them

  1. Power off the Flip.
  2. With the screwdriver from the aircraft package, remove both blades and both screws from the damaged motor. DJI says to replace both blades together and not mix blades from different packages.
  3. Hold the new blade with the DJI logo facing up. Gently lift the propeller guard and insert the blade through the gap from below.
  4. Use the screwdriver to align the blade's hole with the motor, press it down a few times to seat it, then put a new screw on the driver and tighten it, keeping the screw vertical.
  5. Gently lift each blade to check it's secure, and spin the prop to feel for rubbing.

DJI recommends rechecking screws every 30 hours of flying, about 60 flights. The screwdriver is only for props; DJI says not to use it to take the drone apart.

When to replace

Before every flight, check for cracks, chips, bends, worn tips, corrosion and loose screws. If you see any, replace that motor's blades. The guards protect props from light bumps, but a crash usually means new ones. See Flip repair.

Quiet or upgrade props

There's no DJI low-noise prop for the Flip. Third-party "quiet" or colored props aren't approved by DJI:

  • DJI's manual: only use official DJI propellers, and don't mix types.
  • DJI says non-qualified props mean the Flip can't be used as a C0 aircraft in Europe.
  • Different props change thrust and handling, and problems from unauthorized parts can complicate warranty or repair claims.

For a quieter flight, keep props undamaged and avoid hard climbs and Sport mode near people. More in Flip noise.

Keep props in good shape

  • Fold the arms before packing so nothing presses on the blades.
  • Clean props with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Don't take off from grass, sand or leaves; DJI warns debris can damage the motors and props.
