Is the DJI Osmo Pocket, Action, Mic and Ronin affected by the US ban?

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Yes and no. Current DJI handhelds that already have FCC authorization, including the Osmo Pocket 3, Osmo Action 5 Pro, DJI Mic 2 and existing Ronin gimbals, are still legal to buy and use in the US. But new DJI products can't get FCC authorization anymore, which is why newer releases like the Osmo Pocket 4 and Pocket 4P haven't launched here.

DJI cameras and the US ban
DJI cameras, mics and gimbals authorized before December 22, 2025 stay on sale. Newer DJI products can't get FCC authorization, so they aren't sold in the US.

Why the ban reaches cameras, not just drones

On December 22, 2025 the FCC added two things to its Covered List. One was foreign-made drones and drone components. The other was DJI's (and Autel's) communications and video surveillance equipment, named in the 2025 defense bill. That second listing is tied to the company rather than to drones, which is why new DJI cameras with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, wireless mics and similar products are affected too.

Equipment on the Covered List can't receive new FCC authorization. A radio device without FCC authorization can't be legally marketed in the US. Products authorized before the listing keep their authorization.

Product by product

  • Osmo Pocket 3: authorized before the cutoff and still sold in the US with US warranty support. Shop the Osmo Pocket 3.
  • Osmo Action 5 Pro: authorized and on sale. Osmo Action 5 Pro.
  • DJI Mic 2: authorized and on sale. DJI Mic 2.
  • Ronin and RS gimbals: existing models stay legal. Future models would face the same authorization block.
  • Osmo 360: the original model is still listed on DJI's US store. The Osmo 360 II holds FCC authorization, but DJI chose not to launch it in the US.
  • Osmo Pocket 4 and Pocket 4P: launched in 2026 outside the US. They didn't get US authorization before the cutoff, so they can't be sold here.
  • Mic Mini 2S: reported as blocked for the same reason. See is the DJI Mic Mini 2 available in the US.

Do tariffs or the LiDAR proposal affect Osmo?

  • Tariffs: the September 2026 Section 232 tariffs target drones and drone components, not handheld cameras.
  • LiDAR and thermal: the FCC's July 2026 proposal on "military-grade" equipment targets drones with LiDAR or thermal sensors, plus related components such as payloads. It doesn't target handheld cameras.

Will my Osmo keep getting updates?

DJI said in December 2025 that it had no plans to stop firmware and app support for existing products. The FCC's update waivers were written for drones; we haven't seen a separate FCC notice on handheld cameras. Keep your device updated through the DJI Mimo app.

Buying advice

Buy a US-authorized model from an authorized dealer so warranty and DJI Care work here. Grey-market Pocket 4 units bought abroad may not get US service. Browse Osmo cameras, microphones and gimbals.
