The closest alternative to the DJI Mini 5 Pro is the DJI Mini 4 Pro: also under 250 g, with omnidirectional obstacle sensing and ActiveTrack, for less money, and officially sold in the US with DJI Care Refresh. If you want better image quality than the Mini 5 Pro and can register a heavier drone, the Air 3S is the step up. The Flip and Mini 3 cover safer-around-people and budget needs.

Why people look for alternatives
DJI didn't officially launch the Mini 5 Pro in the US. It was FCC-authorized before the December 2025 Covered List decision, so it's legal to buy and fly, but stock is limited, and you should ask us whether a US Care Refresh plan is available for it. See can you buy the Mini 5 Pro in the US. We sell it from $835 when we have stock.

DJI Mini 4 Pro: the closest equivalent
Same folding size class, omnidirectional vision sensing, ActiveTrack 360°, true vertical shooting, 4K/60 HDR and a 20 km (FCC) video link. You give up the 1-inch sensor (so low-light footage is noisier), the forward LiDAR for night returns, and the 225° roll gimbal. You gain US Care Refresh and a lower price. See Mini 4 Pro vs Mini 5 Pro.
DJI Air 3S: the image-quality step up
A 1-inch main camera like the Mini 5 Pro plus a 70 mm medium tele camera, 45 minutes rated, and better stability in wind. It also has forward LiDAR. The trade-off is weight: at 724 g it must be registered with the FAA and broadcast Remote ID, and it's bigger to carry. See Mini 5 Pro vs Air 3S.
DJI Flip: for flying near people
Full-coverage propeller guards, palm takeoff and a 1/1.3-inch 48 MP camera at 249 g. Obstacle sensing is forward-only, and the video link is shorter. It suits vlogging and family use more than landscapes. See Flip vs Mini 5 Pro.
DJI Mini 3: the budget pick
At $461 it has a good 48 MP camera and the longest rated flight time here, but only downward sensing and no ActiveTrack. Fine for open spaces and learning. See Mini 3 vs Mini 5 Pro.
What about non-DJI drones?
Several brands make sub-250 g camera drones. We only sell DJI, so we can't speak to their performance or support. Whatever you choose, check obstacle sensing, the video link, and whether parts and service are available in the US.
