DJI Mini 4 Pro won't turn on or charge: what to do

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

A DJI Mini 4 Pro with no power almost always has a battery that's empty, in hibernation, too hot or cold to charge, or not clicked in. Charge it with a USB PD charger at room temperature with the drone switched off, then press the power button once, press again and hold for two seconds. If it powers on but won't fly, it may still need activation in DJI Fly.

Mini 4 Pro: full charge with DJI 30W
Charge times from DJI's Mini 4 Pro manual. Battery figures use the DJI 30W USB-C Charger. The RC 2 figure assumes a 9V/3A charger; DJI recommends 5V/2A for the RC-N2.

Turn it on correctly

The Mini 4 Pro uses a two-step press: press once, then press again and hold for two seconds. A single press only shows the battery level. The RC 2 and RC-N2 use the same press, then press-and-hold.

Battery won't charge or shows no lights

  1. Wake it from hibernation. DJI ships batteries in hibernation, and a battery left under 10% while idle hibernates again. Charging wakes it. DJI's FAQ says to insert the battery in the drone or hub and connect the charger to activate it.
  2. Charge with the drone off. Connect a charger to the drone's USB-C port with the battery installed.
  3. Use the right charger. DJI recommends the DJI 30W USB-C Charger or another USB Power Delivery charger. A weak phone charger can take far longer or not charge at all.
  4. Check the temperature. It only charges between 5° and 40° C (41° and 104° F), and stops if the cells pass 55° C. Let it cool after a flight.
  5. Reseat it. If LEDs 3 and 4 blink together, DJI says the battery isn't mounted correctly.
  6. Read the protection codes. While charging, LED2 blinking means overcurrent or a short circuit, LED3 means overcharge or an over-voltage charger, LED4 means too cold or too hot. Unplug and replug for electrical faults. Temperature faults clear on their own.
  7. All four LEDs blinking means DJI considers the battery damaged.

Charging hub not charging

The Two-Way Charging Hub charges up to three batteries in sequence, fullest first. Each port's LEDs blink quickly with a USB PD charger, slowly with a normal charger, and go solid when full. If all LEDs blink in sequence, no battery is detected: push each battery in until it clicks. Clean the terminals with a dry cloth if you see buildup.

Not activating

The Mini 4 Pro needs internet to activate before its first flight. With the RC-N2, connect your phone (with data) and follow DJI Fly's prompts. With the RC 2, connect it to Wi-Fi or a hotspot first. Then activate the drone in DJI Fly. If activation keeps failing, see Mini 4 Pro not connecting.

Controller won't turn on

Charge it over USB-C. DJI says the RC 2 takes about 1.5 hours with a 9V/3A charger and the RC-N2 about 2.5 hours with a 5V/2A charger. See DJI controller won't turn on.

Replace or repair

Stop using a battery that's swollen, cracked or warm when idle: see swollen drone battery. Charge every battery fully at least once every three months. If a charged Mini 4 Pro battery that works elsewhere won't start your drone, the aircraft needs service: start a repair. For general help, read DJI battery not charging.
