How long does the DJI Neo battery take to charge?

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

A DJI Neo battery takes about 50 minutes to charge from empty to full inside the drone, according to DJI. With the DJI Neo Two-Way Charging Hub and DJI's 65W Portable Charger, all three batteries charge together in about 60 minutes. The Neo has to be powered off to charge, and the battery has to be cool enough first.

DJI Neo charging options
DJI's charging times for the Neo. Three batteries charge together in the hub only with a charger over 45 W; smaller chargers do two at a time or one by one.

Charging in the drone

Plug a USB-C charger into the port on the Neo with the battery inside and the drone off.

  • Time: about 50 minutes, 0 to 100%.
  • Power: the Neo's USB-C port accepts up to 15 W, so a bigger charger won't make it faster.
  • Charger: DJI recommends its 30W USB-C Charger or 65W Portable Charger. Any USB charger rated at least 10 W (5 V, 2 A) will charge it, just more slowly with low-power bricks.
  • Status: the battery LEDs on the Neo show the level while charging, and all LEDs go solid when it's full.

A new Neo battery ships in hibernation mode. It wakes up the first time you plug in a charger, so charge before your first flight.

Charging in the Two-Way Charging Hub

The hub holds three batteries and charges them in a smart order depending on your charger:

Charger power What the hub does
10 to under 30 W Charges one at a time, fullest first
30 to under 45 W Charges two together
45 W or more Charges all three together

With the 65W Portable Charger, three batteries take about 60 minutes. DJI says a single battery also takes about an hour in the hub. The hub can also work as a power bank: with a charged battery inside, it tops up your phone over USB-C.

Why charging can be slow or stop

  • Battery too hot. It only charges between 5 and 40 °C (41 to 104 °F). DJI says not to charge right after a flight; let it cool first. DJI's ideal range is 22 to 28 °C (72 to 82 °F).
  • Drone switched on. The battery won't charge in the Neo while it's powered on.
  • Weak charger or cable. Use a USB PD charger and a good USB-C cable.
  • Protection codes. If the LEDs blink in an odd pattern, the battery may have detected overcurrent or a bad temperature. Unplug, wait, and plug in again.

If a battery still won't charge or shows four LEDs blinking together, DJI says it's damaged. Stop using it and see Neo not turning on.

Plan a day of flying

Each battery gives about 18 rated minutes, so the fastest workflow is three batteries plus the hub. Charging is slower from low-power car outlets or power banks, so top up whenever you have a wall outlet. More in Neo battery life and Neo batteries and chargers.
