A DJI Mini 3 standard battery takes about 64 minutes to charge fully in the drone, or about 56 minutes in the two-way charging hub, using DJI's 30W USB-C charger. A Battery Plus takes about 101 minutes in the drone or 78 minutes in the hub. You'll know it's full when all four battery level LEDs stay solid; in the hub, the LEDs for that slot turn solid green.

Charge times
| Battery | In the drone | In the two-way hub |
|---|---|---|
| Standard (2453 mAh) | About 64 min | About 56 min |
| Plus (3850 mAh) | About 101 min | About 78 min |
These are DJI's figures with the DJI 30W USB-C Charger. A three-battery hub charges one battery at a time, so three standard batteries take roughly three times as long, about 2 hours 50 minutes in total.
Which charger to use
- Best: DJI 30W USB-C Charger, or any USB Power Delivery charger rated 30 W. DJI says 30 W is the maximum the drone and the hub accept.
- Slower: DJI's 18W USB charger also works, and so does a basic phone charger, but a non-PD charger can take much longer.
- Cable: a USB-C to USB-C cable that supports PD.
- Limit: DJI says the drone's charging port accepts a maximum of 15 V.
The battery can't charge while the drone is powered on. Turn it off first.
How to know when it's fully charged
Charging in the drone: the four battery level LEDs on the drone show progress. DJI's manual shows them climbing through 1 to 50%, 51 to 75%, 76 to 99% and 100%. When all LEDs are on solid, the battery is full. Unplug the charger.
Charging in the hub: each slot has its own row of status LEDs. They blink in sequence while that battery charges (quickly with a fast charger, slowly with a normal one) and go solid when it's full. Press the hub's function button to check charge levels. The hub charges the fullest battery first.
Why it might charge slowly or not at all
- Temperature. DJI says the battery only charges between 5 °C and 40 °C (41 °F and 104 °F), and charging stops if the cells pass 55 °C. Right after a flight, the battery may be too hot. Let it cool to room temperature first. DJI's ideal charging range is 22 to 28 °C.
- Weak charger or cable. Use a 30 W PD charger.
- Drone is on. It won't charge while powered.
- Hibernation. A battery below 10% may hibernate; it wakes when you charge it. New batteries ship in this mode.
If a battery still won't charge, see DJI battery not charging.
Charging the controller
DJI says the DJI RC charges at up to 15 W (5 V, 3 A) and takes about 1.5 hours to fill. The RC-N1 also charges over its USB-C port and runs up to 6 hours when it isn't charging your phone. Charge the controller the night before, along with your batteries.
Charging on the go
- Use the hub as a power bank. With charged batteries inside and no wall power, it can charge your phone or controller from its USB-A port.
- A USB-C PD power bank or car charger rated 30 W can charge batteries in the drone or the hub.
Battery care
- Don't leave batteries fully charged for days. They self-discharge to about 96% after one day and about 60% after nine days by design.
- Charge every battery fully at least once every three months.
- For travel, DJI recommends charging to 30% or less.
