Which DJI drones have Remote ID built in?

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Every DJI drone we sell that weighs 250 g or more has Standard Remote ID built in: the Air 3, Air 3S, Mavic 3 series, Mavic 4 Pro, Avata 2 and Inspire 3, plus DJI's enterprise and Agras drones. The sub-250 g models differ. The Mini 5 Pro has it, the Mini 3 and Mini 4 Pro only switch it on with the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus, and the Mini 2 SE, Neo and Flip have none.

Built-in Remote ID on DJI drones
Every DJI drone we sell at 250 g or more has Standard Remote ID. The Mini 3 and Mini 4 Pro only broadcast with the Plus battery; the Neo, Flip and Mini 2 SE have none.

Why it matters

The FAA's Remote ID rule (14 CFR Part 89) applies to every drone that must be registered. That means any drone of 250 g or more, and every drone flown under Part 107, whatever it weighs. A drone without Standard Remote ID needs an add-on broadcast module, or it can only fly inside an FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA). Background is in Remote ID explained.

DJI drones on the FAA's Remote ID list

The FAA publishes every accepted declaration of compliance. When we checked in October 2026, DJI models on it included:

Group Models with Standard Remote ID
Mini Mini 3, Mini 3 Pro, Mini 4 Pro, Mini 5 Pro
Air and Mavic Air 2S, Mavic Air 2, Air 3, Air 3S, Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom, Mavic 3, Mavic 3 Classic, Mavic 3 Pro, Mavic 4 Pro
FPV DJI FPV, Avata, Avata 2
Pro and enterprise Inspire 3, Phantom 4 Pro V2.0, Phantom 4 RTK, Matrice 30/30T, Matrice 350 RTK, Matrice 4E/4T, Matrice 400, FlyCart 30
Agriculture Agras T10, T20P, T25, T40, T50, T100

You can search the list yourself at uasdoc.faa.gov.

The Mini exceptions

  • Mini 3 and Mini 4 Pro: DJI's manuals say the Remote ID system is only activated with the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus. With the standard battery they weigh under 250 g, so hobby pilots don't need to register or broadcast. Part 107 pilots must register at any weight, so they fly with the Plus battery or add a broadcast module. Details: Mini 4 Pro Remote ID.
  • Mini 5 Pro: its manual includes FAR Remote ID compliance information without the Plus-only note, and it's on the FAA list.
  • Mini 2 SE, Neo and Flip: not on the FAA list. Fine for recreational flying under 250 g; not usable for Part 107 work without a module. See Flip Remote ID.

Remote ID in the DJI Fly app

DJI Fly runs a Remote ID self-test before takeoff, and a drone that fails it won't take off. On controllers without their own GPS, like the RC-N3, your phone supplies the pilot location, so keep DJI Fly in the foreground with precise location allowed. Errors and fixes are in DJI Remote ID error.

Registering a Remote ID drone

  1. Find the aircraft serial number in DJI Fly under Settings > About.
  2. Register at FAADroneZone ($5, valid 3 years). Recreational pilots get one number for all their drones.
  3. Add the Remote ID serial number to the drone's entry.
  4. Mark your registration number on the outside of the drone.

Full steps: FAA registration.

Rules current as of October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice.

Want a drone that's ready for Part 107 out of the box? The DJI Air 3S and DJI Mini 5 Pro both broadcast Remote ID with no add-ons.
