Yes. The DJI Air 3S has Standard Remote ID built in, meeting the FAA's rule (14 CFR Part 89) with no add-on module. It broadcasts automatically from takeoff to shutdown. You need to register it with the FAA, because at 724 g it's well over 250 g, and add its serial number to your FAADroneZone account. The serial number is in DJI Fly under Settings > About, on a label inside the battery compartment, and on the box.

Where to find the Air 3S serial number
- In DJI Fly: with the drone connected, open Settings > About. The aircraft serial number (SN) is listed there.
- On the drone: remove the battery and look for the label inside the battery compartment.
- On the box: the barcode label on the packaging.
Use the aircraft serial, not the controller's or the battery's.
Adding it to your FAA registration
- Log in at FAADroneZone.
- Recreational: in your recreational account (the Exception for Limited Recreational Operations), add the Air 3S to your inventory with its serial number. One registration number covers all your recreational drones.
- Part 107: register the Air 3S as its own aircraft and enter the serial.
- Mark your FAA registration number on the outside of the drone.
The fee is $5 and registration lasts 3 years. Full steps in FAA registration.
How the Air 3S meets the rules
From DJI's FAR Remote ID compliance section in the Air 3S manual:
- It broadcasts Remote ID messages from takeoff until shutdown.
- It runs a Remote ID self-test before takeoff and can't take off if the test fails.
- It monitors Remote ID during flight and shows an alert in DJI Fly if something fails.
- The RC-N3 has no GPS of its own. Your phone supplies the pilot location, so DJI Fly must run in the foreground with precise location allowed. The DJI RC 2 has built-in GNSS.
Remote ID error? Try these in order
- Allow DJI Fly precise location and keep it open on screen.
- Turn on the phone's location services and give it time to lock outdoors.
- Restart the drone, controller and app.
- Update aircraft firmware, controller firmware and DJI Fly. See Air 3S firmware update.
- Try a different phone, or a screen controller like the RC 2.
If the self-test keeps failing, see DJI Remote ID error or contact our repair team.
Can you turn it off?
No, not in the US. Every drone that must be registered has to broadcast Remote ID, unless you fly inside an FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA). There's no US setting to disable it. Outside the US, DJI Fly applies the local rules. In Europe, for example, you enter your operator registration number under Settings > Safety > UAS Remote Identification.
Read Remote ID explained for the full rule, and Air 3S license for the TRUST and Part 107 side.
Rules current as of October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice.
Every DJI Air 3S we sell has Standard Remote ID built in. Register it before your first flight.
