DJI Air 3 propellers: replacement, low-noise props and how to change them

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Air 3 uses the DJI Air 3 Series Low-Noise Propellers (model 8747F, 8.7 x 4.7 in), the same props that come on the drone, and they also fit the Air 3S. They're quick-release, so you change them by pressing down and twisting, no tools needed. Replace any prop that's chipped, cracked or bent before your next flight.

Changing Air 3 propellers
Air 3 props are quick-release. Props with grey marks go on motors with grey marks; unmarked props go on unmarked motors.

Which props fit

Prop Fits Notes
Air 3 Series Low-Noise Propellers (pair) Air 3, Air 3S Genuine DJI, $13 a pair
Mini, Mavic or Avata props No Different size and mount

"Low-noise" is DJI's name for the standard Air 3 prop. There isn't a quieter official option. Each blade is about 6.4 g and is balanced at the factory.

About third-party "stealth" props

Aftermarket props, including colored "stealth" or "upgrade" sets, are sold for the Air 3. DJI's manual says to use only official DJI propellers and never to mix propeller types. A prop with a slightly different pitch or weight can change efficiency, noise and flight behavior, and damage caused by it may not be covered by DJI. A different color isn't worth that risk. We sell genuine DJI props only.

How to change Air 3 propellers

  1. Power off the drone and remove the battery. Never touch props with the battery in.
  2. Remove the old prop: hold the motor, press the prop down and turn it the opposite way to the lock arrow until it releases.
  3. Match the marks: props with grey circle marks go on the motors with grey marks. Props without marks go on motors without marks. Swapped props won't lift the drone.
  4. Attach: hold the motor, press the prop down and rotate it in the lock direction shown on the prop until it pops up and locks.
  5. Unfold the blades and give each one a gentle spin to check it turns freely and sits flat.

Unfold the front arms before the rear arms when you set up the drone. When folding, tuck the front props into the two dents on each side of the body so the blades don't bend.

When to replace a prop

  • Any chip, crack or nick, even a small one at the tip
  • A bent or warped blade
  • A prop that doesn't lock firmly

Damaged props cause vibration, which shows up as jello in video and can trigger motor warnings. Keep at least one spare pair in your bag. If a motor feels rough or makes noise after a crash, see DJI motor propeller error or Air 3 repair.

Propeller guard

The Air 3 Series Propeller Guard ($19) adds a ring around each prop for indoor and close-up flying. It adds weight and drag, so flight time drops, and APAS Nifty mode doesn't work normally with it fitted.

For general steps across DJI models, see how to change DJI propellers. Stock up with a couple of pairs of Air 3 Series Low-Noise Propellers.
