DJI Air 3S propellers: replacement, quiet props and installation

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Air 3S uses model 8747F propellers (221 x 120 mm, about 8.7 x 4.7 in, 6.4 g each), the same props DJI sells as the Air 3 Series Low-Noise Propellers. They fit both the Air 3S and Air 3. They're quick-release, so you change them by pressing down and twisting, no tools needed.

Changing Air 3S propellers
Air 3S props are quick-release. Props with marks go on motors with marks, unmarked props on unmarked motors. Swapped props won't lift the drone.

Which props fit

Prop Fits the Air 3S? Notes
Air 3 Series Low-Noise Propellers (pair) Yes Genuine DJI, $13 a pair
Mini, Mavic or Avata props No Different size and mount
Third-party "stealth" props Not recommended DJI says use official props only

DJI's Air 3S FAQ lists the Air 3 Low-Noise Propellers among the Air 3 accessories that work on the Air 3S, and the manual lists 8747F as the qualified prop.

Are there quieter propellers?

No. "Low-noise" is DJI's name for the standard Air 3 series prop, so your Air 3S already has them. There's no quieter official option. Aftermarket props sold as quieter or "upgraded" may differ in pitch, weight or balance, which changes noise, efficiency and handling. DJI's manual says to use only official DJI props and never to mix prop types. We sell genuine DJI props only.

To make the drone less noticeable, fly a little higher and further away (within the rules), and avoid hovering right over people.

How to install Air 3S propellers

  1. Power off the drone and remove the battery.
  2. Remove the old prop: hold the motor, press the prop down and twist it opposite to the lock arrow until it releases.
  3. Match the marks: props with marks go on motors with marks. Props without marks go on motors without marks.
  4. Attach: press the prop down onto the motor and twist in the lock direction shown on the prop until it locks.
  5. Check: unfold the blades and spin each prop gently. It should turn freely and sit flat.

When folding the drone, tuck the front props into the two dents on each side of the body. DJI warns that pushing the blades against the back of the drone can deform them.

When to replace a prop

  • Any chip, crack or nick, even a small one at the tip
  • A bent or warped blade
  • A prop that won't lock firmly

DJI calls props consumable parts. A damaged prop causes vibration, which can show up as jello in video and trigger motor warnings. Keep at least one spare pair in your bag. If a motor sounds rough after a crash, read Air 3S repair or DJI motor propeller error.

Propeller guard

For indoor and close-up flying, the Air 3 Series Propeller Guard ($19) fits the Air 3S. It adds about 43 g and shortens flights. See Air 3S propeller guards.

General steps for every DJI model are in how to change DJI propellers. Stock up with a couple of pairs of Air 3 Series Low-Noise Propellers.
