Can the DJI Avata 2 do flips? How to flip with Easy ACRO

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Yes. The DJI Avata 2 can do front flips, backflips and rolls with Easy ACRO, a one-push trick feature on the RC Motion 3 controller. Open the shortcut menu in the goggles, select Easy ACRO, turn the dial to Flip, then push the joystick up or down for a flip or left or right for a roll. With the FPV Remote Controller 3 you can also flip manually in Manual mode.

How to flip the Avata 2
Easy ACRO works with Goggles 3 or N3 and the RC Motion 3. Enable it before you start recording, in Normal mode, with at least 25% battery.

The Easy ACRO actions

Action Joystick What happens
Flip Up or down Front flip or backflip
Flip Left or right One roll left or right
180° Drift Left or right Drifts around 180° to face the other way
Power Loop Up Flies forward and loops 360° (fixed size and speed)
Slide Any direction Moves up, down, left or right without turning

Power Loop was added in DJI's November 2024 firmware and works with Goggles 3 or N3 and the RC Motion 3. Update first if you don't see it. See Avata 2 firmware update.

Step by step

  1. Fly to an open area and climb above 1.5 m (DJI's minimum). More height is safer.
  2. Open the shortcut menu in the goggles and select Easy ACRO.
  3. Use the dial on the RC Motion 3 to choose the action. It shows on the left of the goggles view.
  4. Push the joystick in the direction for the move.
  5. The drone performs the trick and stabilizes itself.

Tip: DJI says Easy ACRO can't be switched on while you're recording, so enable it first, then press record.

When Easy ACRO won't work

DJI lists these blocks:

  • Recording already started, or Head Tracking is on
  • Using the FPV Remote Controller 3 (it uses Manual mode instead)
  • Taking off, hovering, landing or returning home
  • Sport mode
  • Battery below 25%
  • Altitude under 1.5 m
  • Wind over 10 m/s
  • Weak GNSS signal
  • In a GEO zone buffer or near your max distance

At high speed or in hard turns, the drone also needs more height before it allows a trick.

Flipping in Manual mode

With the FPV Remote Controller 3 and Manual mode enabled, there's no self-leveling. You flip and roll with the sticks like any acro FPV quad, at any time, with full control and full responsibility. Practice in a simulator first. See Avata 2 manual mode and FPV flying techniques.

Flip safely

  • Give it room. Clear space all around and above, away from people, trees and water.
  • Keep away from water. DJI specifically warns to keep a safe distance from water when doing Easy ACRO.
  • Mind the battery. Tricks pull a lot of power.
  • Visual observer. In goggles you need one beside you in the US. See are FPV drones legal.

If the drone lands upside down after a missed trick, use Turtle mode in the goggles to flip it over. See Avata 2 crash: what to do.
