The DJI Mic 2 transmitter doesn't have a dedicated mute button. You mute it from the receiver's touchscreen: on the home screen, swipe up on the left side to control Transmitter 1 or the right side for Transmitter 2, then tap the mute icon. Tap it again to unmute. A muted transmitter's recording status LED pulses red, and the receiver shows a muted icon next to that channel.

Step by step
- Wake the receiver and go to the home screen. Press the power button once if you're in a menu.
- Swipe up on the left half of the screen for TX1, or the right half for TX2.
- Tap the mute icon. When the muted icon shows, that transmitter is muted.
- Tap it again to unmute.
The same swipe-up panel also lets you start or stop the transmitter's standalone recording and turn noise reduction on or off.
How to tell a mic is muted
| Where | What you see |
|---|---|
| Transmitter recording status LED | Pulses red |
| Receiver screen | Muted icon on that channel's volume bar |
| Transmitter (vibration on) | A short vibration when muted or unmuted |
The receiver can also show the external mic as muted if one is plugged into the transmitter's 3.5 mm input.
Transmitter button shortcuts
From DJI's Mic 2 manual:
| Button | Press | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Power | Hold 2 s | Power on or off |
| Power | Press once | Noise reduction on/off (when enabled) |
| Record | Press once | Start or stop standalone recording |
| Record | Hold 3 s | Switch between receiver and Bluetooth mode |
| Linking | Hold 2 s | Link to the receiver or a phone over Bluetooth |
| Linking | Press once | Photo or record on a phone (Bluetooth mode) |
The power-button noise reduction shortcut is called Noise Reduction via Button, added in a January 2024 firmware update and on by default. If pressing power does nothing, check it's enabled on the receiver.
Receiver controls
- Power button: press and hold to turn on or off. Press once to lock or unlock the screen, or to return to the home screen.
- Dial: on the home screen, press then turn to adjust transmitter or receiver gain. It also scrolls and confirms menu items.
- Swipe down: opens the Control Menu.
Mute and backup recording are separate
Mute and standalone recording are separate buttons in the swipe-up panel. If you also want the transmitter's backup file to stop, tap the REC control as well. To keep a backup recording from being stopped by an accidental press of the record button, turn on REC Stop Lock in the receiver's transmitter settings.
When the mic is connected straight to a phone
In Bluetooth mode, the transmitter talks to the phone without the receiver, so you can't use the receiver's swipe-up controls. DJI also notes internal recording and noise cancelling aren't available in that mode. See DJI Mic 2 Bluetooth.
