DJI Power 2000 expansion battery: is it worth adding?

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Power Expansion Battery 2000 adds another 2048 Wh to a Power 2000, doubling its run time with one pack. You can chain up to 10 of them for 22,528 Wh in total. It's worth adding if you want a day or more of home backup or a long off-grid trip; for weekend camping or a film shoot, the Power 2000 alone is usually enough.

Power 2000 capacity with expansion
Each DJI Power Expansion Battery 2000 adds 2048 Wh. DJI says the Power 2000 supports up to 10, for 22,528 Wh total. Batteries connect in a chain through their SDC ports.

What it is

Spec Expansion Battery 2000
Capacity 2048 Wh (40 Ah)
Chemistry LFP
Cycle life Over 80% capacity after 4000 cycles
Weight About 16.5 kg
Size 448.5 × 225 × 234 mm
Ports 2 SDC ports
Works with DJI Power 2000 and Power 1000
Our price $769

It has a screen that shows its battery level when you press its power button. It doesn't have outlets of its own, so it only works connected to a power station.

How the daisy chain works

The expansion battery has two SDC ports, one above the other:

  1. Connect the upper SDC port to an SDC port on the Power 2000.
  2. To add another pack, connect the lower port of the first battery to the upper port of the next.
  3. The lower port of the last battery can also take a DJI Super Fast Charger (car or solar).

To charge the expansion batteries, just charge the power station; they charge through it. On the Power 2000, their status shows on the station's screen and in the DJI Home app over the station's built-in Wi-Fi.

Limits by power station

Power station Max expansion batteries Max total
DJI Power 2000 10 22,528 Wh
DJI Power 1000 / 1000 V2 5 11,264 Wh

On a Power 1000, plug into the SDC port, not the SDC Lite port. Update the Power 1000's firmware first.

Faster charging with an expansion battery

With at least one expansion battery connected, the Power 2000's combined AC and DC recharging can reach 3000 W (wall power plus a 1kW or 1.8kW Super Fast Charger), up from 2200 W for the station alone. See Power 2000 charging time.

Who should add one?

Worth it if you:

  • Want to run a fridge, lights, internet and phones through an outage of a day or longer.
  • Live in an RV or van and want several days between charges.
  • Run long shoots with lights, monitors and drone battery charging far from power.

Probably skip it if you:

  • Mostly camp for a weekend or charge drone batteries in the field.
  • Need to move the system often. The station plus one pack is about 38.5 kg.

Expansion battery or a second power station?

A second Power 2000 gives you another 3000 W inverter and its own outlets in a second spot. An expansion battery is cheaper per watt-hour and adds run time, but not more output: the system is still limited to the Power 2000's 3000 W.

Price

We sell the DJI Power Expansion Battery 2000 for $769. Each one adds the same capacity as the station itself at a lower price per Wh than buying a second DJI Power 2000.

For backup planning, read Power 2000 as a UPS or home backup, or see what the Power 2000 can run.
