To protect a DJI Mini 4 Pro you have three layers: DJI's warranty (included, covers manufacturing defects), DJI Care Refresh (covers crashes, water damage and a flyaway, with a fee per replacement), and liability insurance (covers damage or injury you cause to others). Most owners should add Care Refresh, which must be bought within 48 hours of activating the drone. Anyone flying for clients should also carry liability insurance.

DJI warranty
Every Mini 4 Pro we sell is a genuine US unit with DJI's manufacturer warranty. It covers defects and failures from normal use. It does not cover crashes, water damage, flyaways or unauthorized repairs. Coverage periods differ for the aircraft, gimbal camera, battery and controller; check DJI's warranty policy for each. Keep your receipt and the drone's serial number. More in DJI warranty in the USA.
DJI Care Refresh for the Mini 4 Pro
DJI Care Refresh 1-Year (Mini 4 Pro) is $98 at our store.
- Two replacements in one year, each for a service fee set by DJI.
- Covers collisions and water damage.
- Flyaway coverage once, if the drone is bound to your DJI account and linked to its controller.
- Free two-way shipping on replacements.
DJI also offers a 2-year plan for the Mini 4 Pro. Contact us if you want that instead.
The 48-hour rule
Buy Care Refresh while the drone is new or within 48 hours of activation. After that, DJI asks for a video verification of the drone before adding a plan. The easiest path: add it at checkout with the drone.
Is it worth it?
For a first drone, yes. Most crashes happen in the first weeks, and a single replacement fee costs far less than a new drone. Even experienced pilots flying over water or near trees find it cheap peace of mind. See DJI Care Refresh and how to claim.
Drone insurance
Care Refresh protects your drone. It doesn't cover damage or injuries you cause.
- Recreational pilots: the FAA doesn't require insurance. Some homeowner's or renter's policies cover small drones, others exclude aircraft. Check yours. See does homeowners insurance cover drones.
- Part 107 pilots: the FAA doesn't require it either, but clients, venues and property owners often require proof of liability coverage. Annual and on-demand policies exist. See drone insurance and drone insurance cost.
- Hull coverage from an insurer can cover your drone too, sometimes including theft, which Care Refresh doesn't.
Simple habits that prevent claims
- Keep firmware current and calibrate only when DJI Fly asks.
- Leave obstacle avoidance on in Normal or Cine mode. It's off in Sport.
- Set RTH altitude above nearby obstacles every flight.
- Check props before every flight.
- Bind the drone to your DJI account so flyaway coverage applies.
- Fly well inside the 10.7 m/s wind rating.
After the FCC action
Existing Care Refresh plans and warranty service continue for the Mini 4 Pro. The FCC's December 2025 decision affects new models, not service for authorized ones. See is DJI Care Refresh available in the US.
Coverage, fees and time limits are set by DJI and insurers, and can change. Check current terms for your plan.
