DJI Mini 4 Pro QuickShots, MasterShots and orbit (POI) mode

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Mini 4 Pro has six QuickShots: Dronie, Rocket, Circle, Helix, Boomerang and Asteroid. Each one flies a preset move around a subject, records a short video and returns to its starting point. It also has MasterShots, which strings several moves into one cinematic clip, and a Point of Interest (POI) orbit mode inside FocusTrack where you set the radius and speed yourself. Start any of them from the shooting mode icon in DJI Fly after hovering at least 2 m up.

The six QuickShots in DJI's Mini 4 Pro manual. Each records a short clip automatically and returns to where it started.

The six QuickShots

QuickShot What the drone does
Dronie Flies backward and up, camera locked on the subject
Rocket Climbs straight up with the camera pointing down
Circle Circles around the subject
Helix Climbs while spiraling around the subject
Boomerang Flies an oval around the subject, rising on the way out and descending on the way back
Asteroid Flies backward and up taking photos, then flies back; the video opens on a "tiny planet" panorama and descends into the view

DJI's space requirements: allow a 30 m (99 ft) radius and 10 m (33 ft) above for Boomerang, and 40 m (131 ft) behind and 50 m (164 ft) above for Asteroid.

How to use QuickShots

  1. Take off and hover at least 2 m (6.6 ft) above the ground.
  2. Tap the shooting mode icon in DJI Fly and choose QuickShots.
  3. Pick a sub-mode and drag a box around your subject.
  4. Tap Start. The drone flies, records and returns automatically.
  5. Find the clip in Playback to view, edit or share.

To stop, press Flight Pause or tap the stop icon; the drone brakes and hovers. Moving a control stick also cancels the shot.

MasterShots

MasterShots keeps the subject centered while the drone flies a sequence of moves, then builds a short edited video. Hover at least 2 m up, choose MasterShots, drag-select the subject, set the flight range, check the map preview for obstacles and tap Start. The drone returns to its starting position when it's done. DJI says not to use it near buildings or where GPS is weak, and the subject shouldn't be moving fast.

Point of Interest: the orbit or "circle mode"

For orbits you control, use POI in FocusTrack rather than the Circle QuickShot:

  1. Hover, then drag a box around the subject. The drone enters Spotlight.
  2. Tap the mode bar at the bottom and switch to Point of Interest.
  3. Set the flight direction and speed, then tap GO.
  4. Press record. FocusTrack doesn't record on its own.
  5. Adjust while it flies: roll stick changes circling speed, pitch changes distance, throttle changes height.
  6. Press Flight Pause or tap Stop to return to Spotlight.

POI works on still subjects and on moving people, vehicles and boats. Max speed is 12 m/s, and DJI says the drone may adjust its speed to suit the radius. The drone bypasses obstacles while orbiting if its vision sensors can see them.

For follow modes, see Mini 4 Pro ActiveTrack.

Limits and safety

  • Don't use QuickShots or MasterShots when the subject is more than 50 m away, blocked for long, fast-moving or in the air.
  • DJI advises against very dark (under 300 lux) or very bright (over 10,000 lux) scenes.
  • Clear the area of people and obstacles. Thin branches and wires are hard for the sensors to see.
  • Keep the drone in your visual line of sight the whole time, and don't fly over people.

Settings for the best clips

Good light and a medium distance give the cleanest results. If you want to color grade, fly your own POI orbits and record in D-Log M, where you control every camera setting. More in best Mini 4 Pro settings.
