DJI doesn't list a "drone only" or "No RC" version of the Mini 4 Pro in its US store. Every US kit includes a controller: the standard kit comes with the RC-N2 ($835 at our store), and the Fly More Combo with the RC 2. An aircraft-only unit only makes sense if you already own a compatible controller, because the Mini 4 Pro can't be flown from a phone alone.

Controllers that work with a Mini 4 Pro body
- DJI RC-N2: the standard kit controller.
- DJI RC 2: the screen controller from the Fly More Combo and other DJI kits like the Air 3.
- DJI RC-N3: support added in Mini 4 Pro firmware in 2024.
- DJI RC Pro 2: support added in 2025.
The RC-N1 and original DJI RC that came with the Mini 3 or Mini 3 Pro do not work. Full list in Mini 4 Pro controllers.
What an aircraft-only unit usually lacks
If you find a Mini 4 Pro sold as "drone only," "body only" or "aircraft only," check what's actually included. It may be missing:
- The controller (the whole point).
- A battery. Some listings sell just the airframe.
- Spare propellers, screws and the screwdriver.
- The gimbal protector, which you'll want for transport.
- Proof of purchase for warranty. DJI warranty and Care Refresh depend on where and when the drone was bought.
Also ask whether it was activated. Care Refresh must be bought within 48 hours of activation, so a used or previously activated body usually can't get a new plan without DJI's video check. See DJI Care Refresh.
The real cost
| Option | What you get |
|---|---|
| Standard kit, $835 | Drone, RC-N2, 1 battery, props, cables |
| Standard kit + RC-N3 spare | Two phone-style controllers |
| Fly More Combo, $1,209 | Drone, RC 2, 3 batteries, hub, bag |
Prices are ours and can change. Because the standard kit already includes a controller, a body-only deal has to be well below $835 to make sense, and a bare airframe without a battery needs a Mini 4 Pro battery on top.
Replacing a crashed drone
If you're after a body because yours crashed, look at your options first:
- Care Refresh: if you bought it, a replacement costs a fixed fee. See protecting your Mini 4 Pro.
- Repair: damaged arms, gimbals and motors can often be fixed. See Mini 4 Pro repair.
- New kit: you'll end up with a spare controller and battery, both useful.
Other things to budget for
- A USB-C PD charger, 30 W. None is in the box.
- A microSD card. See best SD card for the Mini 4 Pro.
- Spare batteries if you'll fly for more than half an hour.
