DJI Mini 5 Pro batteries and chargers: what to buy

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Mini 5 Pro uses its own Intelligent Flight Battery (2788 mAh, rated 36 minutes) or the larger Intelligent Flight Battery Plus (4680 mAh, rated 52 minutes, but the drone then weighs over 250 g). Charge them in the drone with a USB-C PD charger, or three at a time in the Mini 5 Pro Two-Way Charging Hub. DJI quotes its charge times with the DJI 65W Portable Charger; a wall charger isn't in DJI's kit box lists.

Mini 5 Pro battery options
From DJI's Mini 5 Pro specs. Charge times use the Two-Way Charging Hub and DJI 65W Portable Charger at 25° C.

Which batteries fit the Mini 5 Pro?

Only Mini 5 Pro batteries. DJI lists two:

  • Intelligent Flight Battery, model BWXNN5-2788-7.0, about 71.2 g. Keeps the drone at about 249.9 g.
  • Intelligent Flight Battery Plus, model BWXNN5-4680-7.16, about 117 g. DJI says the drone then weighs more than 249 g, so recreational pilots must register it with the FAA. DJI also notes the Plus is only sold in some regions. See Mini 5 Pro Battery Plus.

Both are Li-ion, under 100 Wh, so they can fly in carry-on bags under FAA rules. Mini 4 Pro and Mini 3 series batteries aren't on DJI's Mini 5 Pro compatibility list.

Charging options

Method 1 standard battery 1 Battery Plus
In the drone, 65 W charger About 69 min About 94 min
Two-Way Charging Hub, 65 W charger About 46 min About 56 min
Hub, three batteries About 115 min About 193 min

DJI measured these at 25° C (77° F). Heat and weaker chargers make them longer. More detail in how long the Mini 5 Pro takes to charge.

How to charge the battery

  1. Let it cool. DJI says not to charge right after a flight. Batteries only charge between 5° and 40° C (41° to 104° F).
  2. In the drone: with the drone powered off, plug a USB-C charger into the drone's USB-C port. The battery won't charge while the drone is on.
  3. In the hub: insert up to three batteries and connect a USB-C charger. Status LEDs blink quickly with a USB PD charger and stay solid when full.
  4. Check the level: press the battery's power button once.

The Two-Way Charging Hub

  • Charging order: under 45 W, it charges one battery at a time, highest charge first. At 45 W or more, with a PD charger that gives 3 A at 15 V and a 3 A cable, it charges two standard batteries in parallel. Battery Plus packs charge in sequence.
  • Power bank: press the function button and it charges a phone or controller from its batteries, lowest first.
  • Power accumulation: press and hold the function button for 3 seconds to move leftover charge into the fullest battery. Handy for one last flight.
  • Not included: the charger. DJI recommends its 65W Portable Charger or another USB PD charger.

Which charger to buy

Any quality USB-C PD charger of 65 W matches DJI's published times. A 45 W PD charger still enables parallel charging in the hub. A lower-power charger works, just slower. DJI recommends its own chargers or others that support USB PD fast charging. In a car, a PD car charger works the same way.

How to remove the battery

Power the drone off first; DJI says never to insert or remove the battery while it's on. Press the battery buckles on both sides and slide the battery out of the back of the drone. To insert, slide it in until it clicks; a loose battery can cause poor contact in flight.

Battery care

  • DJI rates the battery for 200 cycles.
  • Charge fully at least once every three months. DJI says a battery left without charging or discharging for three months or more is no longer covered by warranty.
  • For travel, DJI recommends discharging to 30% or lower.
  • In cold weather, warm batteries to at least 10° C (50° F) before takeoff.
