DJI Mini 4 Pro batteries and chargers: what to buy

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

The DJI Mini 4 Pro uses the Mini 4 Pro Intelligent Flight Battery (2590 mAh, rated 34 minutes), and it also accepts the Mini 3 series Intelligent Flight Battery Plus (3850 mAh, rated 45 minutes, but over 249 g). Charge either one in the drone with any USB-C Power Delivery charger, or use the Two-Way Charging Hub to charge three in a row. DJI recommends its 30W USB-C charger or another 30 W PD charger.

Mini 4 Pro battery options
DJI's figures for the two batteries that fit the Mini 4 Pro. The standard battery keeps it under the FAA's 250 g registration line.

The batteries

Mini 4 Pro Intelligent Flight Battery, $109 at our store. This is the one to buy for most pilots. It keeps the drone under 249 g, so recreational flyers don't need FAA registration. DJI lists it as compatible with the Mini 4 Pro and Mini 3 Pro.

Intelligent Flight Battery Plus. Longer flights, but the drone goes over 250 g, so you must register it and it broadcasts Remote ID. DJI also says not to fit a propeller guard with it. Details in Mini 4 Pro Battery Plus.

Mini 3 Pro standard battery. It fits, but DJI says flight time and propulsion drop and the drone goes over 249 g. Use it only if you already own some.

Chargers

  • No charger in the box. The standard kit includes a USB-C to USB-C cable but no wall charger. Use the DJI 30W USB-C charger or any USB Power Delivery charger rated 30 W or more.
  • 30 W is the ceiling. DJI says the drone and the hub accept up to 30 W, so a bigger laptop charger won't charge faster, though it works fine.
  • Charging in the drone: plug USB-C into the drone with it powered off. About 70 minutes for a standard battery with a 30 W charger.
  • Car charging: a car USB-C adapter that supports Power Delivery at 30 W can charge it the same way.

The Two-Way Charging Hub

The Mini 4 Pro / Mini 3 Two-Way Charging Hub ($54 at our store) holds three batteries and charges them one after another, starting with the fullest. Each standard battery takes about 58 minutes with a 30 W charger. Press its function button to check levels. It doubles as a power bank: with charged batteries inside, its USB-A port can top up your phone or controller.

It works with the Mini 4 Pro battery, the Mini 3 series standard battery and the Battery Plus. DJI says not to use other battery models.

Third-party ("non-DJI") batteries

We don't recommend them. DJI's batteries include cell balancing, temperature protection and firmware that talks to the drone. DJI's hub is only rated for DJI battery models, and a battery failure in flight means a crash. It's a poor place to save money.

How many batteries do you need?

  • Casual flying: two.
  • Travel or real shoots: three, which is what the Fly More Combo includes along with the hub and bag.
  • All-day work: four to six, plus a car charger.

Battery care

  • Don't charge right after flying; let the battery cool first.
  • Batteries charge only between 41° and 104° F (5° to 40° C).
  • For travel, DJI suggests discharging to 30% or lower. Spare batteries go in carry-on only, with terminals protected; at 18.96 Wh they're far under the 100 Wh airline limit. See traveling with a drone.
  • Fully charge stored batteries at least once every three months.
