Can the DJI Neo do flips?

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Yes. The DJI Neo can do front flips, backflips and rolls using Easy ACRO, a feature of the DJI RC Motion 3 motion controller with DJI goggles. Pick Easy ACRO in the goggles' shortcut menu, choose the Flip action with the dial, and push the joystick in the direction you want to flip. You can't flip the Neo from your palm, your phone or the RC-N3.

How to flip the DJI Neo
From DJI's Neo manual. Flips are part of Easy ACRO, which needs the RC Motion 3, at least 35% battery, 1.5 m of height and wind under 4 m/s.

What you need

The Neo Motion Fly More Combo included all three.

How to do a flip

  1. Take off with the RC Motion 3 and fly in Normal mode.
  2. Make sure you're not recording and head tracking is off. Easy ACRO can't be enabled during either.
  3. Open the shortcut menu in the goggles and select Easy ACRO. The selected action appears on the left of the view.
  4. Use the dial on the RC Motion 3 to choose Flip.
  5. Fly to at least 1.5 m with clear space all around.
  6. Push the joystick up for a front flip, down for a backflip, or left or right for a roll.

Other Easy ACRO tricks

  • Slide: joystick up or down to climb or descend, left or right to slide sideways.
  • 180° Drift: joystick left or right to drift around 180°.

When Easy ACRO won't work

DJI lists these blockers:

Condition Limit
Battery Below 35%
Height Below 1.5 m
Wind Above 4 m/s (9 mph)
Flight mode Sport mode
Flight phase Taking off, hovering, landing or RTH
Positioning No GNSS or vision positioning
Location Near a Restricted Zone, Altitude Zone, or max distance

DJI also says to be careful when the wind is above 2 m/s or when you chain tricks back to back. The Neo can drift sideways or lose height after a flip, so give it room.

Can you flip it in Manual mode?

The FPV Remote Controller 3 gives full Manual (acro) control, but Easy ACRO isn't available with it, and DJI calls the Neo an entry-level Manual drone that isn't suited to aggressive moves like power loops, dives and Split-S. Easy ACRO is the reliable way to flip a Neo. See Neo manual mode.

Recording your flips

Easy ACRO can't be switched on while the Neo is recording, so turn it on before you press record. For FPV-style footage, see best Neo settings.
