The DJI Neo is good for simple indoor walk-through clips and social media videos of a listing, and not much more. Its full propeller guards and 135 g weight make it easy to fly through rooms, and it shoots 4K/30 video. But its 1/2-inch, 12 MP camera is too limited for professional listing photos, and it has no obstacle sensing. For paid real estate work, treat the Neo as a second camera and use a drone like the Mini 5 Pro for exteriors and stills.

Where the Neo works well
- Indoor walk-throughs. Full-coverage guards and a small frame make close passes through rooms less risky.
- Quick social clips. QuickShots and palm takeoff give agents fast vertical videos for Reels and TikTok. The Neo shoots 1080p in 9:16 vertical.
- FPV-style tours. With Goggles N3 and the RC Motion 3, you can fly smooth FPV tours. DJI rates that link up to 10 km (FCC), far beyond what you need on a property.
- Low cost. It's an inexpensive way to test whether clients want video.
Its limits
- Image quality. A 1/2-inch sensor with 12 MP photos and 4K/30 video can't match a 1-inch camera for wide exteriors or twilight shots.
- Fixed wide lens. 117.6° field of view, 14 mm equivalent. Good indoors, but a house shot from a distance looks small in the frame, and there's no zoom lens to fix that.
- Wind. DJI rates it for 8 m/s (Level 4). Exterior shots on breezy days are hard.
- No obstacle avoidance. Only downward positioning, so you avoid walls yourself.
- Short phone range. Flown from the phone app over Wi-Fi, DJI quotes 50 m. Use the RC-N3 or goggles for exterior work.
- About 18 minutes per battery, or 17 with guards, so carry spares.
Best settings for listing video
- 4K/30 in 16:9 with RockSteady for walk-throughs.
- 1080p 9:16 for social clips.
- Turn on all the lights and open blinds. Small sensors get noisy indoors.
- Fly slowly. Normal mode tops out at 6 m/s, which is plenty indoors.
- Plan your path room to room before takeoff.
The rules for paid work
Real estate is commercial flying. In the US the pilot needs a Part 107 certificate, and the drone must be registered, even at 135 g. Because registered drones must broadcast Remote ID and the Neo doesn't have it built in, you'd need to attach a Remote ID broadcast module for Part 107 flights. Get written permission from the owner before flying inside. See Neo Remote ID and real estate drone license.
