How to update Osmo Mobile 6 firmware (and release notes)

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

You update the Osmo Mobile 6 through the DJI Mimo app. Make sure the gimbal's battery light is green or yellow, connect it to Mimo with your phone online, and tap the update prompt when it appears. DJI says an update takes about three minutes. Don't leave the app until the status light turns solid green.

Update OM 6 firmware
From DJI's Osmo Mobile 6 manual. An update takes about three minutes. The status light blinks red and green while updating.

Step by step

  1. Charge the gimbal. DJI wants the battery level indicator green or yellow before you start.
  2. Update DJI Mimo from your app store first; newer gimbal firmware often needs a newer app.
  3. Connect. Turn on Bluetooth, open Mimo and connect to your OM6.
  4. Tap the prompt. If new firmware is available, Mimo shows it. Your phone needs internet to download it.
  5. Wait. Keep Mimo open and the phone near the gimbal. The status light blinks red and green alternately during the update, then turns solid green when it's done.

How to check your firmware version

In DJI Mimo, open the gimbal's settings and look under General Settings for version information. You'll also see the device name and serial number there.

If the update fails

DJI's steps:

  1. Restart DJI Mimo.
  2. Reconnect the gimbal over Bluetooth.
  3. Try the update again.

If it still fails, restart the gimbal too, forget it in your phone's Bluetooth settings, and reconnect from inside Mimo. A light that keeps alternating red and green after an attempt can mean a failed update, not a dead gimbal. If nothing works, contact DJI support. More fixes in Osmo Mobile 6 not working.
