Best gimbal for iPhone in 2026 (Osmo Mobile 6 vs SE)

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

For most iPhone owners, the best gimbal is the DJI Osmo Mobile 6: 3-axis stabilization, a magnetic clamp that works through most cases, a built-in 215 mm extension rod and a side wheel for zoom and focus. If you just want steady video for less, the Osmo Mobile SE does the core job with a longer 8-hour battery. Both fit phones from 170 to 290 g, which covers most iPhones in a slim case.

Which gimbal for iPhone?
Both gimbals we stock fit phones from 170 to 290 g. The newer Osmo Mobile 7P and 8 track inside the iPhone's own camera app.

What you get on an iPhone

Both gimbals use the free DJI Mimo app. On iPhone, DJI says Mimo can use all the phone's lenses and lets you set ISO, shutter speed and exposure compensation, plus white balance. Slow motion works on iPhone in Mimo. You also get:

  • ActiveTrack: draw a box around a person or object and the gimbal follows them.
  • Timelapse, Motionlapse and Hyperlapse.
  • Pano (3×3, 240° and CloneMe), DynamicZoom and Story templates.
  • Apple Watch remote: start recording, steer the gimbal and toggle ActiveTrack from your wrist (DJI lists Apple Watch Series 7, 8 and 9, SE 2 and Ultra 1 and 2).

DJI's current Osmo Mobile compatibility list covers iPhone 11 through iPhone 17 models. Features vary by phone and gimbal model, so check DJI's list for yours. See Osmo Mobile 6 compatible phones.

Will my iPhone fit?

  • Weight: 170 to 290 g including the case and any lens or mic you attach.
  • Thickness: 6.9 to 10 mm, case included.
  • Width: 67 to 84 mm.

Bulky rugged cases are the usual problem. Thin cases are fine; DJI says you can keep a case on with the magnetic clamp. With a wide-angle lens on some phones, the gimbal arm can peek into the frame. Slide the clamp away from the camera bump to fix it.

When to look past the OM 6 and SE

The Osmo Mobile 7P and 8 add a Multifunctional Module that tracks in the iPhone's own Camera app and other apps, and the OM 8 adds Apple DockKit and 360° pan. We don't stock them right now, and new DJI products face FCC limits in the US. See Osmo Mobile 6 vs 7 and 8.

If you want better image quality than a phone, a gimbal camera like the Osmo Pocket 3 is the step up. See vlogging camera vs phone.

Our verdict

  • Best overall: Osmo Mobile 6, for the extension rod and zoom wheel.
  • Best budget: Osmo Mobile SE.
