DJI Avata 2 combos: single battery vs Fly More Combo

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Every complete DJI Avata 2 kit includes the drone, DJI Goggles 3 and the RC Motion 3 controller. The difference is batteries: our standard kit ($934) has one battery, and the Fly More Combo ($1,121) adds two more batteries, the Two-Way Charging Hub and a shoulder bag. DJI calls these the Fly More Combo (Single Battery) and the three-battery Fly More Combo. If you'll fly more than one battery per outing, the Fly More Combo is the better buy.

Is the Fly More Combo worth it?

Bought separately, two extra batteries ($109 each) and the charging hub ($65) come to $283, before a bag. That's more than the $187 price gap, so the combo is the better deal if you want those parts anyway.

Get the Fly More Combo if: you'll drive somewhere to fly, want 45 to 60 minutes of flying per session, or want to charge three batteries in about 45 minutes each instead of 88 minutes in the drone.

Get the single-battery kit if: you're testing whether FPV is for you, fly in short sessions near home, or plan to add batteries later.

"Fly Smart Combo", "Explorer" and other names

Those names belong to bundles for the original DJI Avata, not the Avata 2. If a listing calls an Avata 2 kit a "Fly Smart Combo", check exactly which goggles and controller are in the box. The Avata 2 kits DJI sells come with Goggles 3 and RC Motion 3. See Avata 2 vs Avata 1.

What about drone only, or other goggles?

  • Drone only: worth it only if you already own compatible goggles and a controller (Goggles 3 or N3 with RC Motion 3 or FPV Remote Controller 3, or Goggles 2 or Integra with the Motion 2 or FPV RC 2). See Avata 2 drone only.
  • Goggles N3 instead of Goggles 3: cheaper goggles you wear over glasses. See Avata 2 goggles.
  • FPV Remote Controller 3: needed for Manual mode. See Avata 2 controllers.

Add Care Refresh

FPV crashes happen. Care Refresh 1-Year (Avata 2) ($76) covers two replacements at DJI's $49 US damage fee. Buy it within 48 hours of activation. See Avata 2 protection.

Before you fly

At 377 g, the Avata 2 must be registered with the FAA ($5 for 3 years), and in goggles you need a visual observer beside you. See Avata 2 license.
