Osmo Mobile 6 vs Insta360 Flow 2 Pro: which phone gimbal?

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Both the DJI Osmo Mobile 6 and the Insta360 Flow 2 Pro are folding 3-axis phone gimbals with built-in extension rods and AI subject tracking, so either will give you smooth phone video. The Osmo Mobile 6 is the safe, well-documented choice with a side wheel for zoom and focus and a magnetic clamp. Insta360's newer Flow models are marketed around tracking that also works in the iPhone's own camera and third-party apps. Pick based on your phone, the apps you use and the price you can find.

Osmo Mobile 6 or Insta360 Flow 2 Pro?
Both are folding 3-axis phone gimbals with subject tracking. The best pick depends on your phone, the apps you film in and where you want support.

What the Osmo Mobile 6 offers

Specs from DJI:

  • Phone support: 170 to 290 g, 6.9 to 10 mm thick, 67 to 84 mm wide.
  • Built-in extension rod: up to 215 mm, with a pivot you can angle from 0 to 90 degrees for low shots.
  • Magnetic phone clamp with alignment detection, so the status light warns you if the phone isn't seated right.
  • Side wheel for zoom and focus, plus a status panel and an axis lock for storage.
  • ActiveTrack in the DJI Mimo app, which DJI has updated since launch.
  • Battery: about 6 hours 24 minutes rated; USB-C charging.
  • Weight: about 305 g for the gimbal.

It also connects by Bluetooth, and DJI's Quick Launch opens DJI Mimo when you unfold it on supported phones. In our store it's $120.

What to check on the Insta360 Flow 2 Pro

We don't sell Insta360 gimbals, so check the details on Insta360's official spec page. The points that decide this comparison:

  • Tracking outside the brand app. Insta360 promotes tracking that works with Apple's DockKit, meaning the iPhone's own camera and supported apps can steer the gimbal. If you film mostly in the native camera app, Instagram or other third-party apps, this can matter more than any spec.
  • Phone weight limit. Large phones with cases can exceed some gimbals' limits. Compare the published maximum with your phone's weight.
  • Extension rod and tripod. Note the rod length and whether a tripod is built in or separate.
  • Battery and price. Compare the rated run time and the current price from an authorized seller.

Tracking: what to expect

The Osmo Mobile 6 tracks in DJI Mimo, and DJI's own docs say tracking works with front and back cameras and in portrait mode. DJI Mimo also adds gesture control, timelapse, motionlapse, hyperlapse and panorama modes. If you're happy editing and filming in DJI Mimo, the Osmo Mobile 6's tracking is mature and reliable.

If you want to film in apps other than DJI Mimo with tracking active, look closely at whether the Flow 2 Pro's DockKit support covers your phone and apps.

Support and warranty

Buy from an authorized dealer so warranty service works in the US. We're an Authorized DJI Dealer; the Osmo Mobile 6 is FCC-authorized and on sale here. See is the DJI Osmo banned for how the US rules apply to DJI handhelds.
