Both gimbals hold the same phones (170 to 290 g) and give you the same 3-axis stabilization, magnetic clamp and DJI Mimo features. Get the Osmo Mobile 6 if you want a built-in extension rod for selfies, group shots and low angles, plus a side wheel for zoom and focus. Get the Osmo Mobile SE if you just want smooth phone video for the lowest price; it also runs longer on a charge.

All specs from DJI. Battery life is measured with the gimbal balanced and stationary.
The extension rod is the big difference
The OM 6 rod pulls out up to 215 mm and the pivot on top angles from 0 to 90°. That lets you:
- Get more of yourself and the background in selfie vlogs.
- Fit a group into the frame.
- Shoot low tracking shots near the ground without crouching.
With the SE you hold the phone at arm's length or use a separate selfie stick.
Other OM 6 extras
- Side wheel for smooth zoom and manual focus.
- Quick launch: unfold the gimbal and DJI Mimo opens.
- Axis lock for storage. Folded, it measures 189 × 84.5 × 44 mm vs 167 × 108.5 × 46.5 mm for the SE: a little longer, but narrower.
Where the SE wins
- Price: $59 less at our prices.
- Battery: about 8 hours vs about 6.4.
- Same core tracking, timelapse and Motionlapse modes in DJI Mimo, with ActiveTrack 6.0 and ShotGuides.
Which should you buy?
- Travel vlogs, talking to camera, family and group shots: Osmo Mobile 6.
- First gimbal, steady walking shots, smallest budget: Osmo Mobile SE.
- Want tracking in your phone's own camera app: see the newer models in Osmo Mobile 6 vs 7 and 8.
Both work with most phones and cases up to 10 mm thick. Check DJI's compatibility list if your phone is heavier than 290 g. Setup tips are in how to use the Osmo Mobile 6, and if a gimbal won't sit level, see Osmo Mobile 6 not level.
