Yes. The DJI Mic Mini is a very good wireless mic for vlogs, travel, social video and Osmo cameras: each transmitter weighs about 10 g, runs about 11.5 hours, and reaches up to 400 m in open conditions. What you give up compared with the DJI Mic 2 is the safety net: no internal backup recording, no receiver screen, no headphone jack and no wired lav input.

What the Mic Mini does well
- Barely visible. About 10 g without the magnet. On a collar it looks like a button.
- Long battery. About 11.5 hours per transmitter and 10.5 hours for the receiver. The case recharges the set about 3.6 times, for up to 48 hours total.
- Range. Up to 400 m, measured by DJI in an open area with no interference. Walls and crowds cut that a lot.
- Two levels of noise cancelling, plus automatic limiting to tame sudden loud sounds.
- Direct to Osmo. Transmitters pair with the Osmo Pocket 3 and Osmo Action 5 Pro (up to two) or Action 4 (one) with no receiver.
- Price. $109 at our store, about half the Mic 2.
What you give up vs the Mic 2
| DJI Mic Mini | DJI Mic 2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Internal recording | None | 8 GB, 32-bit float |
| Receiver screen | No (LEDs and a dial) | Touchscreen |
| Headphone monitoring | No | Yes |
| 3.5 mm lav input on TX | No | Yes |
| Self-noise | 24 dBA | 21 dBA |
| TX battery | About 11.5 h | About 6 h |
The big one is backup recording. If the wireless link drops or someone shouts into the mic, a Mic 2 transmitter still has its own clean file. The Mic Mini only sends audio live, so what the camera records is what you get. Full comparison: DJI Mic 2 vs Mic Mini.
How to change settings on the Mic Mini
There's no menu on the hardware. On the device itself:
- Noise cancelling: press the transmitter power button once (yellow LED means on).
- Mono or stereo: press the receiver link button twice.
- Gain: turn the receiver dial.
Everything else lives in the DJI Mimo app: noise cancelling level (Basic or Strong), mono, stereo or safety track, Low Cut, auto power-off and firmware. Connect the receiver to your phone with the adapter, or a transmitter over Bluetooth, then open Mimo. On an Osmo camera, adjust the mic from the camera's Wireless Microphone menu. Recommended values: Mic Mini best settings.
iPhone not detecting the Mic Mini
- Receiver on a USB-C iPhone: make sure it's the Mic Mini's own USB-C adapter. DJI says Mic Mini adapters aren't interchangeable with Mic 2 adapters. Lightning iPhones need the separately sold Lightning adapter.
- Transmitter over Bluetooth: hold the link button 2 seconds until the LED blinks blue and green, then pick DJI Mic Mini in Settings > Bluetooth. If it doesn't appear, turn the phone's Bluetooth off and on.
- Some apps ignore Bluetooth mics. DJI notes livestream support depends on the app. Test with the Camera or Voice Memos app first.
- Update firmware in DJI Mimo. On iPhone, DJI says Mic Mini updates work only over Bluetooth.

Pairing with Osmo Action 5 Pro and Pocket 3
On the camera, go to System Settings > Wireless Microphone, then hold the transmitter's link button 2 seconds. Solid blue means connected, and the transmitter's button starts and stops recording. Keep the camera firmware current; DJI added Mic Mini support to the Action 5 Pro in a November 2024 update. Step by step: how to pair the DJI Mic Mini.
