Yes, the DJI Mic Mini works for Discord, gaming and streaming, and it shines when you move around: facecam streams, IRL streams, VR, or walking away from the desk. Plug the receiver into your computer's USB-C port, select it as the input in your system sound settings and in Discord or OBS, and turn on noise cancelling. For a gamer who sits still at a desk, a dedicated desk or headset mic is often simpler, because the Mic Mini is omnidirectional and will pick up keyboard clicks.

How to connect it to a PC or Mac
- Power on the transmitter and receiver and make sure they're linked (solid green light on the transmitter).
- Plug the receiver into a USB-C port on your computer. For a USB-A port, use a USB-C to USB-A adapter. DJI says the receiver's USB-C port outputs digital audio.
- Windows: Settings > System > Sound > Input, and choose the DJI receiver. macOS: System Settings > Sound > Input.
- In Discord: User Settings > Voice & Video > Input Device. In OBS: add or edit an Audio Input Capture source. In games, pick it in the voice chat settings.
- Run Discord's mic test and adjust input sensitivity.
DJI documents direct Bluetooth pairing for phones only, so on a computer, use the receiver. If it isn't detected, see Mic Mini not connecting.
Where it's great
- Freedom to move. Stand up, grab something, pace while you talk. The transmitter weighs about 10 g and clips to a shirt or attaches with its magnet.
- Facecam without a boom arm. No mic in the shot. Viewers just see a tiny clip-on.
- Two voices. Link two transmitters for co-op streams or a podcast-style setup.
- Long sessions. DJI rates about 11.5 hours per transmitter and 10.5 hours for the receiver with noise cancelling off, and the case tops them up.
- IRL streaming. The same mic moves from your desk to your phone, an Osmo Pocket 3 or an Osmo Action camera.
Where a desk mic is better
- Keyboard and mouse noise. The Mic Mini is omnidirectional, so it hears everything around you. Mechanical keyboards will come through. Noise cancelling helps, and clipping the mic higher on your chest puts your voice closer than your hands.
- Charging. It's wireless, so you need to charge it. A USB desk mic never runs out.
- Monitoring. DJI doesn't describe headphone monitoring on the standard Mic Mini receiver. The separate DJI Mic Series Mobile Receiver has a USB-C port for monitoring headphones.
Best settings for voice chat and streams
- Noise cancelling: on. Press the transmitter's power button once to toggle it. With the receiver, choose Basic or Strong in DJI Mimo. Strong cuts more fan and keyboard noise but can thin your voice. More in Mic Mini noise cancelling.
- Placement: clip it 15 to 20 cm below your chin, facing your mouth, clear of hoodie strings and hair.
- Gain: set it on the receiver dial so speech peaks well below clipping, then fine-tune in OBS.
- Discord: turn off Discord's own noise suppression at first and compare. Stacking two noise filters can make voices sound watery.
- One audio path: disable your webcam mic and any other inputs so OBS and Discord don't pick up two mics.

Mic Mini or Mic 2 for streaming?
The DJI Mic 2 adds internal recording with a 32-bit float backup, a receiver with a touchscreen, and a headphone output. That helps for podcasts and paid streams where a dropout matters. For voice chat and casual streaming, the Mic Mini is plenty. Compare them in DJI Mic 2 vs Mic Mini.
