No, not officially. In October 2026, DJI's US online store still lists the DJI Mic 2 (2 TX + 1 RX + charging case) at $199, next to the newer DJI Mic 3 at $259, though both showed as out of stock when we checked. The Mic 3 replaced the Mic 2 as DJI's flagship wireless mic, but the Mic 2 is still sold and supported, and DJI's spec page guarantees Mic 2 software updates until December 31, 2026. We sell the Mic 2 for $219.

What changed with the Mic 3
From DJI's published specs:
| DJI Mic 2 | DJI Mic 3 | |
|---|---|---|
| Transmitter weight | 28 g | 16 g (with magnet) |
| Receiver weight | 28 g | 25.1 g |
| Max transmission range | 250 m (FCC) | 400 m |
| Transmitter battery | 6 hours | 8 hours |
| Receiver battery | 6 hours | 10 hours |
| Battery with case | 18 hours | 28 hours |
| Internal recording | 8 GB, 32-bit float or 24-bit | 32-bit float or 24-bit, single or dual file |
| Timecode | No | Yes |
| Max transmitters per receiver | 2 | 4 |
| DJI US price (2TX + 1RX + case) | $199 | $259 |
The Mic 3 also adds adaptive gain control, voice tone presets, two-level noise cancelling and dual-band anti-interference. Its timecode supports common frame rates from 23.98 to 60 fps and outputs over 3.5 mm and USB-C.
What "discontinued" would and wouldn't mean
- It would mean DJI stops making new units. Stores would sell through remaining stock.
- It wouldn't mean your Mic 2 stops working. Wireless mics don't need a server to function.
- Software updates: DJI's Mic 2 spec page lists guaranteed software updates until 12-31-26. After that, the mic keeps working on its last firmware.
- Repairs: DJI publishes an end-of-service list showing when repair support ends for each product. Keep your proof of purchase.
Should you still buy the Mic 2?
Buy the Mic 2 if:
- You want 32-bit float backup recording at a lower price
- You record one or two people for YouTube, interviews or vlogs
- You use an Osmo Pocket 3 or phone, which can connect to Mic 2 transmitters directly over Bluetooth
Buy the Mic 3 if:
- You need timecode for multi-camera shoots
- You record up to four people on one receiver
- You want the smallest transmitter and the longest range
For the simplest, cheapest option, the DJI Mic Mini ($109) skips internal recording but is tiny at 10 g per transmitter. See DJI Mic 2 vs Mic Mini and DJI Mic 2 vs Mic 3.
Will the Mic 2 keep working?
Yes. Discontinuation, whenever it comes, doesn't stop a product working. Mic 2 transmitters also work with DJI's Mic Series Mobile Receiver alongside Mic 3 transmitters. See how many DJI mics per receiver and DJI Mic 2 firmware update.
Availability in the US
Since December 2025, DJI's communications equipment is on the FCC's Covered List, so new DJI products can't get the FCC authorization a wireless mic needs. Products authorized before then, including the Mic 2 and Mic 3, remain legal to sell and use. Some newer DJI mics, like the Mic Mini 2, aren't sold in the US. See is DJI Mic Mini 2 available in the US.
That also means stock of authorized models can be uneven. If you need a mic for a project date, buy from a seller with stock on hand. See where to buy the DJI Mic 2.
Common mistakes
- Assuming discontinued means unsupported. Updates are guaranteed through 2026, and the hardware keeps working after that.
- Skipping the internal backup. Turn on transmitter recording for anything you can't redo.
- Buying a single transmitter kit by accident. Check that the listing says 2 TX + 1 RX + charging case.
Quick answers
Is the Mic 2 still worth it in 2026? Yes, for one- or two-person recording with backup audio.
Can Mic 2 and Mic 3 transmitters share a receiver? Through DJI's Mic Series Mobile Receiver, yes. See the receiver guide linked above.
