DJI Mavic 3 Classic battery life: real flight time and charging time

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

DJI rates the Mavic 3 Classic at up to 46 minutes of flight and 40 minutes of hover per battery. In everyday flying, expect about 37 to 39 minutes before you should land with a safe reserve. Recharging a battery takes about 96 minutes with the included 65W charger, or about 70 minutes with DJI's 100W USB-C adapter and the 100W charging hub.

Mavic 3 Classic battery in minutes
DJI's rated figures come from controlled tests. Our real-world estimate assumes landing with a 15 to 20 percent reserve in light wind.

How DJI measures 46 minutes

DJI's figure comes from a controlled test: flying forward at a steady 32.4 km/h (about 20 mph) in still air at sea level, with APAS and AirSense off, the camera at 1080p/24fps, from 100% to 0%. Hover time (40 minutes) and the 30 km maximum flight distance were measured the same way. Real flights include climbs, turns, wind, 5.1K recording and a reserve for landing, so you won't hit 46.

Real-world flight time

Conditions Expect about
Calm, gentle cruising 38 to 40 min
Typical filming with climbs and turns 35 to 38 min
Steady wind, lots of Sport mode 28 to 33 min
Cold weather near freezing noticeably less

These are our estimates, landing with 15 to 20% left. DJI Fly calculates the battery needed to return home and warns you when it's time.

What drains the battery faster

  • Wind. Holding position or flying upwind costs the most. Fly upwind first so the trip home is easier.
  • Sport mode. Flying at up to 21 m/s uses power much faster.
  • Cold. Lithium batteries lose capacity in the cold. Keep spares warm and let the battery warm up before takeoff.
  • Altitude. Thinner air at high elevations means the motors work harder.
  • Climbing. Repeated climbs use more power than level flight.

Charging time

Method Time from empty
DJI 65W Portable Charger (in the standard kit) about 96 min
DJI 100W USB-C Power Adapter + 100W charging hub about 70 min
Three batteries on the 100W hub about 3.5 hours (in sequence)

The 70-minute figure comes from DJI's Mavic 3 Pro specs, which use the same battery and hub. Batteries only charge between 5 and 40°C, so a hot battery straight from a flight may wait to cool down.

How many batteries do you need?

With three batteries you get about 138 rated minutes, or roughly 110 to 115 minutes of real flying. That covers most shoots. The Fly More Combo includes three batteries and the 100W hub. Spare Mavic 3 Series batteries are $175.

Is there an extended battery?

No. The Classic uses the standard 5000 mAh, 77 Wh Mavic 3 series battery. There's no larger "Plus" pack for it, and at 77 Wh the battery stays under the 100 Wh airline limit.

Keep batteries healthy

DJI rates the battery for 200 cycles. Charge each battery fully at least once every three months, store it partly charged, and avoid draining it to zero. More in Mavic 3 Classic batteries and chargers and drone battery care.

Compared with other drones

Drone Rated flight time
Mavic 3 Classic 46 min
Mavic 3 Pro 43 min
Air 3S 45 min

The Classic flies a little longer than the Mavic 3 Pro because it carries one camera instead of three.
