DJI rates the Mavic 4 Pro at 51 minutes of flight and 45 minutes of hovering per battery. Those are lab numbers: still air, sea level, flying at a steady 32.4 km/h (about 20 mph) until the battery reaches 0%. In real use, landing with a reserve, plan on roughly 40 minutes per battery, and less in wind or cold. There's no larger "extended" battery from DJI; the standard Intelligent Flight Battery is the only one.

How DJI measures 51 minutes
From DJI's spec notes:
- Flight time (51 min): forward flight at a constant 32.4 km/h in a windless wind tunnel at sea level, Obstacle Avoidance set to Brake, camera in photo mode, from 100% to forced landing.
- Hover time (45 min): hovering in still air at sea level, from 100% to 0%.
- Flight distance (41 km): steady 54 km/h until the battery runs out.
Nobody flies to 0%. That's why real flights are shorter than the headline figure.
What drains the battery faster
- Wind. Fighting a headwind uses a lot more power. DJI rates the drone for wind up to 12 m/s.
- Sport mode and hard climbs. Top speed is 25 m/s (about 56 mph).
- Cold. DJI says capacity drops sharply between -10° and 5° C, and the battery can't be used below -10° C.
- High elevation. Thin air makes the props work harder.
- Add-ons. The propeller guards add weight; DJI caps max takeoff altitude at 3,000 m with them fitted.
- Battery age. Capacity fades over many cycles.
Is there an extended battery?
No. DJI sells one battery for the Mavic 4 Pro: 6,654 mAh, 95.3 Wh. Staying under 100 Wh keeps it carry-on friendly for flights. To fly longer, carry spares. With three batteries, you get roughly two hours of real flying per outing.
How long does charging take?
| Setup | Time (0 to 100%) |
|---|---|
| 240W adapter + Parallel Charging Hub, one battery | About 51 min |
| 240W adapter + hub, three batteries | About 90 min (about 110 min on US 120 V) |
| 100W USB-C adapter | About 80 min |
| USB-C into the drone (65 W max) | About 115 min |

Get more from every battery
- Start with a fully charged, warm battery (above 10° C in cold weather).
- Fly upwind first so you come home with the wind.
- Use Normal mode for travel; save Sport mode for emergencies.
- Plan shots before takeoff so you're not hovering while you think.
- Set a sensible Low Battery RTH and listen to the warnings.
- Keep firmware current. DJI's January 2026 update optimized the low battery RTH strategy, and its April 2026 update improved battery experience. See Mavic 4 Pro firmware update.
Mavic 4 Pro vs other DJI drones
The Mavic 4 Pro's 51 minutes is well ahead of the Mavic 3 Pro (43 minutes) and the Air 3S (45 minutes). See how long can a drone fly for the full lineup.
