DJI rates the Mini 5 Pro at 36 minutes of maximum flight time with the standard battery and 52 minutes with the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus. Those are calm, lab-style numbers. DJI also publishes a typical flight time from a more realistic test: about 21 minutes with the standard battery and 33 minutes with the Plus. Most real flights land somewhere between the two.

Max vs typical: what DJI measured
Max flight time (36 / 52 min): measured in a wind tunnel equal to calm, sea-level conditions, flying forward at a constant 21.6 kph (25.2 kph for the Plus), in photo mode, until the battery forced a landing.
Typical flight time (21 / 33 min): measured at sea level in a breeze. The drone took off fully charged, climbed to 120 m, flew 1 km at 15 m/s, then recorded 4K/60 for about 15 minutes (20 with the Plus) while moving and hovering, and finally flew home on its own when the RTH reminder appeared and landed safely.
So the typical figure includes climbing, a fast transit, filming and a safe return with reserve. It's the better planning number.
What drains the battery faster
- Wind. Holding position or flying into a headwind uses far more power. DJI rates the Mini 5 Pro for wind up to 12 m/s.
- Cold. Below 5° C (41° F), DJI says capacity drops significantly. Warm the battery to at least 10° C (50° F) first.
- Sport mode and fast climbs.
- High elevation. Thin air means more work for the motors.
- Aging. DJI rates the battery for 200 cycles.
How to get the most from each battery
- Fly in Normal mode at steady speeds; constant fast flying burns power.
- Plan the shot on the ground, then fly it, instead of hovering while you decide.
- Fly upwind first so the return leg is easier.
- Land at 20% to 30%, not at the low-battery prompt. The drone will start Low Battery RTH when only enough power remains to return.
- Keep batteries warm in a pocket or bag in winter.
- Store at a partial charge and fully charge before flying.
Extended battery: the Battery Plus
The Intelligent Flight Battery Plus (4680 mAh) adds about 44% more rated flight time. The catch: the drone then weighs more than 249 g, so US recreational pilots must register it. See Mini 5 Pro Battery Plus.
How many batteries do you need?
One battery gives a single real flight of roughly 20 to 30 minutes. Most owners want three, which is what the Fly More Combo includes: about 108 rated minutes, or around an hour of realistic flying, per outing.
Charging time
With the DJI 65W Portable Charger:
- One standard battery: about 46 minutes in the Two-Way Charging Hub, about 69 minutes in the drone.
- Three standard batteries in the hub: about 115 minutes.
- One Battery Plus in the hub: about 56 minutes; three: about 193 minutes.
See Mini 5 Pro charge time and batteries and chargers.
