How to reset the Osmo Pocket 3 and change language or date

UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

To reset an Osmo Pocket 3, swipe down from the top of the screen, tap the Settings icon, scroll to Factory Reset and confirm. DJI's manual says this deletes all current settings and restarts the camera with factory defaults. The Language option is in the same Settings list. To activate a new Pocket 3, connect it to DJI Mimo with your phone's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on.

Factory reset the Pocket 3
From DJI's Osmo Pocket 3 manual. Factory Reset deletes all current settings; Format, a separate item, is what erases the microSD card.

Factory reset, step by step

  1. Power on: rotate the screen clockwise or press the shutter/record button.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the control menu.
  3. Tap Settings (the gear icon).
  4. Scroll down to Factory Reset, tap it and confirm.
  5. The camera restores factory settings and restarts.

A factory reset clears your settings. It isn't the same as Format, which erases the microSD card. To wipe footage before selling, copy what you need, then use Settings > Format.

Change the language

Swipe down, tap Settings, then Language, and pick yours. If the camera is in a language you can't read, the settings list order stays the same: Language sits just below Continue Last Livestream and above Format and Factory Reset, near the end of the list.

Date and time

DJI's manual doesn't list a manual date or time setting on the camera. If file dates look wrong, connect the Pocket 3 to DJI Mimo on a phone that's set to the correct time and stay connected for a moment, then shoot a test clip and check its date. Still wrong? Update the firmware and contact DJI support.

Separately, Timecode in Settings can be reset or synced with the system time, which matters for multicam editing.

Activate a new Pocket 3

  1. Power on the camera.
  2. Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your phone.
  3. Open DJI Mimo, tap the connect button and follow the prompts.
  4. Install any firmware update Mimo offers. DJI says to have more than 15% battery; the update takes about 2 minutes.

Before you reset: easier fixes

  • Gimbal drifting or tilted? Settings > Gimbal Calibration. Put the camera on a flat, stable surface and don't hold it. See Osmo Pocket 3 gimbal not moving.
  • Won't connect to your phone? Settings > Wireless Connection lets you reset the Wi-Fi connection. See Osmo Pocket 3 not connecting to phone.
  • Turns off when you rotate the screen? Settings > Rotate screen to power off > Never.
  • Frozen? Press and hold the shutter/record button to power off, then on again. If it won't respond, see Osmo Pocket 3 won't turn on.

Night and low-light settings

For night video, pick Low-Light from the shooting modes. DJI's control menu also has Brightness for the screen, which helps in the dark. More in Osmo Pocket 3 low light and Osmo Pocket 3 best settings.

Still not right?

Update the firmware in DJI Mimo, then try the reset again. For hardware faults, see Osmo Pocket 3 repair.
